Community IRL at SAPPHIRE NOW

Join SAP EcoHub and SAP Community Network at SAPPHIRE NOW — Either Virtually (Online) or In Real Life (IRL) in Orlando or Frankfurt

With SAPPHIRE NOW coming up next week, co-located with the ASUG Annual Conference in Orlando and simultaneously in Frankfurt, I wanted to give you a heads up on where you can find all your favorite community members (myself included) along with a sneak preview of some of the ways the community and EcoHub are being integrated into the entire next generation experience.

Recognizing Partner Participation at the Pinnacle Awards

The community events kick off Sunday evening in Orlando with the invitation-only Partner Pinnacle Awards ceremony, where winners in each category will be announced. There’s a specific category for community participation by partners to recognize the top three community contributors as “Communities Leader of the Year.” Tune in to see if the talented folks from Capgemini, Infosys, or Intelligroup walk away with this year’s award.

Hear from Diverse Expert Perspectives

This year’s keynotes offer a wide range of expert perspectives, with Sir Richard Branson (Frankfurt, simulcast to Orlando) offering his viewpoint as an entrepreneur and business innovator and General Colin L. Powell (Orlando) sharing his thoughts on leadership at the ASUG general session. From the SAP side, co-CEOs Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe will give a joint keynote on Tuesday, with Bill speaking live from Orlando and Jim on stage in Frankfurt. Then on Wednesday, CTO Vishal Sikka will keynote from Frankfurt with Hasso Plattner, Chairman of the SAP Supervisory Board, speaking from Orlando. Check out this preview of “Hasso on Hasso”:

Breaking News!

Watch this space! … as we are just moments (OK, it could be hours) away from announcing yet another exciting keynote speaker added to the already-packed program in Orlando.  I’d love to tell you about it now, but have been sworn to secrecy… But the news is imminent… Stay tuned…

SAPPHIRE NOW Broadcast Center

The broadcast center (a CNN-style studio) will be hosting sessions with various executives and attendees throughout the three days, including an “Inside the Ecosystem” series. You’ll find a number of familiar faces on these live broadcasts (available in person, throughout the show floors, and online), including SAP Mentor Dick Hirsch and customer and active community member Dr. Dietmar Giljohann of Procter and Gamble coming to you live from Frankfurt. From Orlando, community leader Paul Kurchina and I will be chatting about the benefits and future of SCN. Also look for an interview with my boss, Singh Mecker, EVP of the Global Ecosystem & Partner Group, and an SAP EcoHub session where my colleague Dan Maloney, VP of SAP EcoHub, will be discussing Enterprise Micro-Apps with partner Leapfactor.

Yours truly (that’s me) will be also speaking on a panel in the Innovation campus with some SAP colleagues and customers. Here’s the abstract: “This panel will discuss how SAP nurtures ideas from various sources and drives innovations into the market. The focus of this panel is on enabling different speeds of innovation, a key principle of timeless software. The participants will discuss time to value for the customer and how SAP incubates ideas and co-innovates with customers to take the ideas to market.” (Add it to your agenda)

Major Themes & Messages

This thread of “timeless software” is one you’ll continue to hear throughout the event. All our speakers offer viewpoints colored by their personal backgrounds and unique experiences, but keep an ear out for some of the common themes I blogged about previously. While SAP is still focused on providing customers with a solid core foundation (SAP BusinessSuite, NetWeaver, etc.), we innovate on this layer with on demand products and customizations for industries and lines of business, as well as personalization for the individual and their devices and orchestration to ensure all three components are tightly coordinated. You’ll see and hear a lot about mobility – check out some of the mobile sessions and explore SAP EcoHub mobile solutions (even on your iPhone with the new EcoHub iPhone app). Also keep an eye and ear out for previews of innovative / disruptive concepts leveraging cloud computing to take on demand to the next level, and in memory database to allow very rapid analysis of massive amounts of data.

Network with Community Members, See New Innovations

Meet fellow community members, SAP employees, and SAP Mentors in the Community and Social Networking areas (located in the Industry and Lines of Business Campuses for Orlando and in the Ecosystem and Partner Center in Frankfurt). If you want to connect beforehand, let @SAPPHIRENOW know if you’re attending, and the team will add you to the Twitter list: Orlando attendees or Frankfurt attendees. While you’re in these areas, visit the EcoHub discovery stations (in the Line of Business campus for Orlando and on the reception desk of each campus at Frankfurt), plus see demos on interactive touch screen kiosks throughout the floor. There are a lot of exciting new innovations to learn about, like mobility in the Enterprise and Idea Place launching at the Innovation campus during SAPPHIRE.

SAP Mentors Galore + Other SAP Community Leaders & Luminaries

Speaking of the Mentors, there will be a number of them in attendance at both locations. For example, in Orlando, you can attend presentations by Sue Keohan, Ginger Gatling, Greg Chase, Martin Gillet, Karin Tillotson, Ingo Hilgefort, Jim Spath, Rob Jackson, Thomas Jung, and even a session about the Mentors by head wrangler Mark Finnern…plus connect or reconnect with many more not listed here. If you’re in Frankfurt, arrange a “tweetup” with Christian Guenther, Dagfinn Parnas, Dick Hirsch, Julius Bussche, Nigel James, Oliver Kohl, Robert Briese – and several others. But you might be on camera; we’re equipping several attendees, including Mentors, with Flip video recorders, acting as Social Reporters, capturing their impressions from the show, then uploading them immediately onto designated YouTube channels.

So, we will have community content represented in all four campuses and the Ecosystem and Partner Center. Innovations will have videos and hands on demos demonstrating the value of the community plus MicroForums on SCN, EcoHub mobile applications and Idea Place. SME and the Ecosystem and Partner Center will have videos, cases and testimonials of customer and partner value. And of course LOB and Industries will have the interactive and informative Community and Networking Areas.

Cut Loose and Celebrate

Finally, don’t forget cut loose at one of the concerts – relive your rock years with Duran Duran in Frankfurt or kick back and listen to the smooth stylings of Carlos Santana in Orlando.

I believe that ASUG/SapphireNow will be a fantastic event - whether in Orlando or Frankfurt.

I believe that all attendees will learn a lot.

I believe if you will have photos of Halle Berry in your blogs, you should also include this, for the rest of us: https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/weblogs/images/14064/Kyle-Chandler-fb-79602018.jpg

Not that Halle isn't just plain gorgeous, but fair's fair.
      Cheers,
      Sue
