SRM 7.0 : Easy to track changes in Org Structure
Tracking the changes done to user attributes & organisation structure was one of the major challenges in earlier versions of SRM. With SRM 7.0, Its easy to track the changes in the organisation structure and user attributes. This will be very helpful for providing support, high visibility for the changes performed & better controls.
Background:
The organizational structure is the technical representation of organizational units and positions in an enterprise, which are arranged in a hierarchy, according to tasks, functions & reporting structure. The following object types are used for the organizational plan and for specifying agents or responsibilities:
Organisation Structure: O(Organisation Unit) – S(Position) – CP (Central Person) – US(Personnel)
Relationships & Attributes:
SRM Org structure can be created directly or replicated from ECC with ALE configuration.
Multiple user attributes and extended attributes are maintained manually in SRM system. e.g. Account assignment category, Local Currency, Movement type, Delivery address, locations, storage locations, product categories & approval limits.
Configuration Steps:
The functionality of tracking the changes is simple with SRM 7.0.
Step 1: Activate the change documents : Transaction SM30 : View T77CDOC_CUST Select Object types (like O Organizational Unit, Position), Infotypes & Subtypes.
Note : Only activate for required Infotypes & Subtype otherwise it will have tons of records. Understanding of correct infotypes is the key.
Example here shows activation of changes for Approval limits at positions.
Some of the important Infotypes for reference:
Info type same as HR :
1000 Object
1001 Relationships
SRM :
5500 EBP Function
5501 EBP Product Responsibilty
5502 EBP Location
5503 EBP Order Value Limits
5580 HR Master Data (0000)
5581 Org. Assignment (0001)
Step 2: Display Change Documents: Transaction SA38: Report RHCDOC_DISPLAY :
Create variants & run the program. This will be helpful to understand what changes are performed.
Example shows the approval limit changes done. Report shows the Old value, New value, Date & Time of change and the user of made the change.
This will help the support team to resolve issues faster & enforce better control.
Hope all of you will find it useful.
