ZGEOCODING: Display Business Partner in WebDynpro ABAP Application

Gregor Wolf started the great SDN community project Community Project ZGEOCODE. Gregor shows how you can geocode the addresses of your Business Partners using the Nominatim service.

In this blog I take the next step and release a WebDynpro ABAP application that displays Business Partners and a map that is showing the location.  The application uses Openstreetmap and the Flex Framework Openscales.

More about this you can read in these blogs:

WebDynpro ABAP Flash Islands with OpenStreetMap

WebDynpro ABAP Flash Islands with OpenStreetMap – Part 2

Here you get an impression how the new application looks:WebDynpro ABAP - Display Business Partner

In the first step you can select the Business Partners. In the moment you click in the result list, the map will appear. The place of your Business Partner is marked.

There is lot of space for enhancement in this application. I invite all of you to participate and improve this application.

Before you copy this application on your system, you have to install / import Community Project ZGEOCODE. The first reason is, that I use some methods of this project. The second reason is, that this application makes only sense, if your Business Partner addresses are geocodes.

After that you can download and import this application by this Nugget ZGC_BP_OSM.nugg. Furthermore you need this Flash application OSMAP.swf. If you want to change the Flash application, here you can download the whole Project OSMAP-zip.

      Hi,

I know this is more like a general question regarding Flash/Flex integration but never thought of using Control Framework to embed Flash player directly into classic Dynpros (SAP Gui)?
That would have the advantage of bringing your work to a much larger audience.

      Best regards,
      Guillaume

      Hi Guillaume,
      thanks for your suggestion.
I think this is a matter of time. The audience of WebDynpro users will grow.
If you look into the blog of Gregor Wolf (Community Project ZGEOCODE) you see the integration of Openstreetmap into a classic Dynpro. I know that the Flash integration is a little bit nicer...
My last point: I haven't implemented classic Dynpros since years. On the UI side I do only BSP and WebDynpro ABAP.
If there is someone interested to implement the integration of this Flash / Flex application into Dynpro, I will support you with all information I have!

      Best regards
      Renald
