Updating your Crystal Reports database username and password for already published reports

A coworker came by today asking a question about updating database passwords for published Crystal Reports.  He was trying to assist a forums user who needed to change the stored passwords for his Crystal Reports without having to go through and do it by hand.

I “rediscovered’ a sample I wrote for another customer who was in the same boat.  Due to security concerns their company mandated that all their database username and passwords be changed every month or two and that means going through all of their reports and updating each username and password by hand.

Also their reports were based off of one of a number of different usernames, all of which needed updated so they needed a way to tell one username from another to update to the correct password.

I created a sample for them that covered this as well as a situation where say a user left the organization and they would need to update all reports that used his/her username and password to something else.

VB.NET

Have a great day!
