Sharing and Updating your Business Card has never been easier!
A couple of months ago we launched the Let’s Exchange Business Cards….. The Community feedback to the changes was tremendous and very positive. It was very encouraging to hear your thoughts and ideas about the Business Card and the places it can go.
Since the launch, we worked on incorporating the comments and suggestions we got, and also adding new features to the Business Card. We recently launched some of these changes, which we would like to share with you:
- Easier and more intuitive access to your Business Card: We added a direct link to your Business Card from the “Contributors Corner” area in the Left Hand Navigation. You can see the new ” Show on Business Card” link below:
In addition, we re-labeled the “Update Profile” drop down options, to emphasize the Business Card:
-
Your Blogger profile is now linking to your Business Card: When other community members read your blogs, they can now view your Business Card within a single click, using the new “Business Card” link in your blogger profile page.
- Ability to remove members from your “favorite members” area: By adding other community members to your “favorite members” list you share with the community who are the other members you find most interesting and worth to follow. Also, it can help the community understand what your favorite topics are by adding these topics’ experts to your “favorite” list. However, we understand that sometimes there is a need to refresh and update your “favorites” list. You can now remove members from your “favorite” list when going into the “edit” mode, as shown below:
- Your LinkedIn profile is now clickable on your Business Card: Other community members can now learn more about your professional background, simply by clicking on your LinkedIn profile in your Business Card. Be sure to add your community profile to your LinkedIn account!
- Twitter was added to the list of Social Media contacts: Want the community members to follow you on twitter? we added “twitter” to the list of social media and on line communication options. Add your twitter username to your Business Card to make it easier for other community members to find you on twitter.
We continue to work hard on adding more to the Business Card and constantly improving the community experience.
Expect more to come!
In my case, http://openid.sap.com/martin.english takes me to my Business Card. This URL is much nicer (and easier to remember !!) than the one the 'standard one' that my Business Card suggests - http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/bc?u=egti8%2bh5st1b2lav2z9qoq%3d%3d (

Did you make sure your points are set to "visible"?
Once you go into the edit mode of the Business Card, you can choose what information is visible to other SCN member and what is hidden.
Be sure to cahnge the status to "visible" for all information you want to be public

How can I send a mail / message / notice to another member of SDN? Is there such a functionality?
br,
Tobias
I have to admit that I haven't heard feedback about the Business Card being slow....nor did I notice anything when using it myself.
I would be happy to hear some examples so we can really look into this.
As for sending a message to another member - this is a super idea, which will improve the collaboration on SCN. We already have something similar in mind, which we are experimenting with.
when clicking the link it needs ~10 seconds for the BC to be loaded. In my terms, this is slow.
Looking forward to seeing the private message feature! This would add collaboration to SDN.
br,
Tobias
Thanks for the feedback. We are looking into possible improvements with the LinkedIn integration. If there are any specific issues please don't hesitate to contact sdn@sap.com
