Presenting, sharing and influencing.

Last month, I had the pleasure of presenting at the Mastering SAP Technologies event in Sydney. The Mastering SAP event hosted over 50 presentations across 4 days. Attendees were lucky enough to be entertained by a great breadth of topics and an all star field of presenters from Customers, Partners, SAP Mentors and SAP Employees.

Based on the feedback received, my "Solution Manager Top 10 Tips to save money" presentation came in at first place, scoring 4.72 out of 5.

As an SAP Mentor, I am quite passionate about spreading my art with the intent of changing the way people think. The delivery method I employ is to minimise PowerPoint material, maximise hands on demonstrations, provide links to existing SDN Weblogs, and most importantly - entertain the attendees. Here are some of the more rewarding comments which make my effort so enjoyable:-

  • Excellent. Passionate and extremely knowledgeable
  • Informative, has given me some ideas to follow up on
  • Absolutely fantastic. Dry sense of humour is great.
  • Great delivery and content.
  • Excellent, Inspiring!
  • Speaker was very open about his experience
  • Lots of information, very approachable. Great mentor
  • Very Good live demos and great NFL videos

If I can influence just the 60 people who attended my presentation, that seems like a very low standard. Why not aim for 500, 1,000 or even 2 million people? So, my offering to all SCN members is the Top 10 Solution Manager Tips presentation, complete with links to weblogs and YouTube videos. Not as entertaining as attending my session in person, but still a good starting point for those wanting to join the ALM crusade.

Many thanks to Eventful Management, for kind permission to reprint the slide-ware.

Still hesitating with your Solution Manager implementation? Be strategic about what to focus energy on, and then relentless in moving it forward.

Sounds like a simple plan?
