Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 Runtimes

Here’s a quick post to share the runtime deployment strategy for CR for VS 2010.

Beta:

  • Use the CR 2008 SP2 MSI runtime.
  • Refer to the beta deployment guide for information on how to redirect the assembly references.
  • Applies to 32-bit applications only.
  • Does not support the new WPF viewer.

Production:

  • Unlike prior releases, we will not be supporting MSM (merge module) deployments.
  • WPF viewer support is planned.
  • 64-bit deployments are planned.
  • Will be released at the same time as the production release of CR for VS 2010 in late June.
  • Using the CR 2008 SP2 runtime will cease to be supported once the production release is out.

Thanks, Blair

      Hi,

I changed my web.config as described in the PDF but I'm always getting this error message:

      Assembly 'my Assambly' uses 'CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=14.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' which has a higher version than referenced assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=12.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304'

      What's wrong?

The WPF viewer is available in the beta.  An overview video is posted here: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/elearn?rid=/library/uuid/a09f7025-0629-2d10-d7ae-df006a51d1a8

The release date for the final version is supposed to be late June. Is it still on track? Is there any definite date yet?

Is there a release date for Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 runtime?  What other deployment options do we have if we want to include existing crystal reports?

Hi Fran. We plan to release the production version of the designer and runtime in mid-November.  Thanks, Blair.

Why when I uninstall the Cryatal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0 does it leave a bunch of directories and files on the computer. Should the uninstall remove what was installed?
As a side note, How can I determine that the runtime is installed? Because the uninstall leaves so much stuff behind, I am not sure what to look for.

Hi Greg!  I suspect you may have installed on a 64bit OS, which means that the 64bit CR .NET Runtime was also installed.  So when you uninstalled the "CR for VS2010" product, you didn't uninstall the 64bit runtime as well.   I recommend taking a look in "Add/Remove Programs" and see if you see any other "SAP Crystal Reports..." products installed, and if so, uninstall them and that should remove the files/folders.

If you continue to have this issue, or have other technical issues, please use the forums as there are support folks who monitor and provide help.

      Hello Blair,

Please advise as to where I can find a deployment guide.

The CRforNET40_x86 was installed on a client machine, yet the Crystal Reports do not work.

      Thank you!  Peg

Documentation is found on the SAP help portal: http://help.sap.com/.  Here's a direct link: http://help.sap.com/content/bobj/bi/crystal_reports_visual_studio.htm#2010.  Deployment information is in the Development section in the file called 'SAP Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 Developer Guide'.

      Thanks, Blair
