If you were with us at TechEd09 in Phoenix, you may have participated in an ASUG-sponsored session where customer concerns surrounding data protection and data privacy were discussed at length. Since then, I have been hoping to continue the dialogue between SAP and the installed customers on these subjects. I am very pleased to be able to announce a web cast on several related topics surrounding the sharing of sensitive data when SAP support personnel are accessing your SAP landscape and the applicable regulations.

On Thursday, April 22, the SAP Technology Portfolio Customer Call Series, a collaborative effort between ASUG and the SAP Technology group, will hold a web cast called Data protection/privacy & security@SAP. The topics will include protection of personal identifying information (PII) and the regulations in Europe and the US concerning such data; an overview of SAP's security organization and SAP's efforts in Information Security; and security at SAP Support, including how SAP ensures compliant processing of customer information.

Phew - what an agenda! I'm exhausted just reading it again, but I am also very excited about the opportunity to delve into these subjects in an extended, 2 hour web cast. The scheduled speakers include Michael Morgenthaler, CISM, Deputy Data Protection Officer of SAP AG; Hans J. Ulmer, CISM, from SAP's headquarters in Walldorf; and Michael Wiedemann, Chief Security Officer and VP for Global Service and Support at SAP AG.

A tip of the hat to Peter McNulty and Denim Pennington for coordinating the logistics for this event. Thanks for helping me arrange what should be a very informative, in depth session.

Please plan to join us on April 22 for this 2 hour event. I am looking forward to an information packed session which should be valuable to anyone concerned with security and compliance.
