With this article, I would like to present 6 sample BPM dashboards. These are just examples what you can achieve with the new Real-time reporting capabilities of SAP NW BPM 7.20. Read about Real-Time Reporting on help.sap.com! In this release of SAP NW BPM, there is integration between BPM and Visual Composer, so that data about the execution of the business processes is provided as Data Sources. There are 4 predefined Data Sources for generic process data:

So I have used these 4 predefined Data Sources to build the 6 sample BPM dashboards. Below you will find description of each dashboard – how each model looks like and exported zip file of each Visual Composer model. You need to import the .zip file for each Visual Composer model into Visual Composer as shown below:

Business Log Report - VC Model

Beside the predefined Data Sources with generic process data, you can have Data Sources with Business Data from the Business Process Data Context. For this you need to define the data structure of the Reporting Data Source in you BPMN model in Process Composer and create a Reporting Activity that will log the data at runtime in your defined Reporting Data Source, one example can be – Discounts given to customers in a Sales Process. The created Reporting Data Sources in you BPMN models will appear in Visual Composer in the same way as the predefined Data Sources, each Reporting Data Source would have a Process Instance ID and a timestamp when the data record was logged. So with using the Process Instance ID of the business related data sources you can link back to process, for example to see which users were involved or how much time the process took to finish it. Hi Radost,

    very interesting blog!

I saw that your bpm_dashboard_BAM model you show the process start time using the data output BI_START_TIME_T_KEY

I tried to redo this in my system (7.2 SP2) but when I import data source BI_BPM_MY_PROCESSES_DS and pull out a table from the DATA output then the parameter [E] BI_START_TIME_T_KEY does not exist. [D] BI_START_TIME_D_KEY is also missing.

Do you have an idea what’s happening here? Since the time parameter is gone, it makes it very hard to display the process start time.

    Best regards,
    Kevin

Wow, simply amazing. I have been messing around with Visual Composer for days, creating overly complex models without reaching the target figures while here it is done so simple.

    Great blog!
