This is my
first SCN Blog Post. Very inspired by the SAP Mentors and the rich content they
provide and sharing their learning experience.
This is a step-by-step procedure to apply Oracle Interim Patches.
Please check in Service Market Place (SMP) for the latest patches that are
tested and recommended by SAP and even check whether they are applicable for
your version of Oracle.
Below are the step performed on the landscape that I work on. Primary
(Production) system with multiple instances of SAP running on it and a DR
system for the Primary.
Oracle version: 10.2.0.4
Operating system: AIX
Below steps are quite self explanatory. If you are performing this activity for
first time please take care of help of experienced persons at work. Enjoy the
Procedure to stop the DR System:
Use the below commands:
Login to the DR System:
orasid> sqlplus “/as sysdba”
SQL > recover managed standby database cancel;
SQL > shutdown
Create file .lock.brb in /oracle/SID/sapbackup and /oracle/SID/saparch to
prevent backup interfering
Ensure to remove .lock.brb and .lock.bra after you start database
finally/completion of steps
Apply Interim patches
