Hello all,
As the first decade of the 21st century comes to an end, and New Year’s resolution decisions are being made, it is a perfect time to start sharing more information with you: the amazing SDN community of the Portal, which is one the most active communities on the SDN!
This year, we are initiating an open discussion with the community on a weekly basis, and per demand even on a more frequent basis. Each week we will share with you a new topic, which we believe will be interesting for you. We of course want to stay tuned to the topics you see of interest: If you feel there is a specific topic that we should cover, please comment bellow and we will cover it in one of the upcoming weeks.
Looking forward to 2010, I would like to share with you our two major planned activities for this year, which we expect to have very positive impact on your implementations
- “SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Workspaces”: (tentative name) A new add-on product for SAP Portal, which will provide a flexible, intuitive UI composition environment, enabling enterprise end users to integrate and run structured and unstructured assets using a self-service approach. Not clear yet? Stay tuned to our next blogs…
- Next major Portal release: We plan to release a beta version for a limited and selected list of customer for the next major portal release by Q2 of 2010, and expect to make the release available for ramp-up customers by the end of 2010. In this release we gave extra attention to usability, supportability, TCO reduction and special requirements coming from our customers and partners. If you are interested in joining the beta program, please comment bellow and we will contact you directly.
So, please stay tuned. We have some exciting and interesting information to share with you, and we will do so in the coming weeks.
Looking forward for an exciting (Portal) year !
April 27th Update: Thank you all for the great interest in the beta program of the next major release of the Portal. The registration phase for the beta program is closed and the program will start in the coming days. Thanks you all for the great interest and participation. Looking forward for the ramp-up…

thanks for the enormous interest in the “SAP NetWeaver 7.3 Beta for Portal”. We definitively appreciate your willingness to contribute and provide early feedback. In order to ensure high quality of support from the back office team, we planned to offer only 15 seats in the program. Due to the big interest we are now checking the option to extend the program. Please be patient, we are trying to gather information and let you know, in case we have some seats left for you 🙂
Have a great day!
Thomas
*ouch* only 15 seats – and I wanted to express our interest as well. It looks like you have to organize some sort of Portal/Idols election 😉
Anyway if you have a seat left, or if you organize another beta program, please consider us (CIBER NL) as well.
Kind regards
Twan
We would definately like to join this program if given an opportunity. We are using SAP Enterprise portal 7.0 SP16 very extensively as our Intranet application. We are using following features for the portal which we think could help to test 7.3 Beta Portal very well
1. Extensive use of Web Page Composure.
2. Customize layout for various pages on Intranet
3. Certificate, Kerberos based Single Sign On with LDAP
4. Integration with multiple Data Source like Active Directory, LDAP etc.
5. Single Sign On setup with various SAP application like CRM, Business Object etc.
6. Integration with Reporting Application.
7. Exposing our intranet over the internet using F5 load balancer and Apachy Reverse proxy.
8. Use of LDAP/AD Groups for Access Control for various pages on Intranet.
list is longer than this but these were some of the highlights of it.
In case you need more details we can provide it to you.
regards,
Jaish
Does 7.3 is an integrated portal / CE / KMC paltform ? Or just new version of portal / KMC.
