        Hi Axel,

        Couple of things

1)What is the integration with BW?

2)It was being told that there will be straight integration with sap screens. Is it true?

        Thanks
        Manish

Did you ever find out about an option for extending the CE 7.2 trial beyond 90 days?  I was busy and let mine sit.  Now I spent the past two weeks really getting into it and “BAM”, it expired on me.

          Thanks,
          Keith

The ABAP 7.02 is on a slightly different release cycle than the Java/CE side of NetWeaver.  It will start ramp up as part of the next enhancement package set for the Business Suite 7 in June.

    Hi Axel,

Is SAP going to release a ‘Developer Edition’ version?

Also, can you please clarify if the expiration is after 30 or 90 days?

The first line of the license agreement says:
“DEVELOPERS NETWORK – SAP 90 DAYS EVALUATION LICENSE AGREEMENT”

However, under “GRANT OF LICENSE”, it says:
“…FOR A PERIOD OF THIRTY (30) DAYS… ARE TIME SENSITIVE AND WILL NOT FUNCTION UPON EXPIRATION OF THE 30-DAY PERIOD.”

    Regards,
    Renato

      Hi Renato,

it will expire after 90 days. I’m wondering where you found the quoted passage?

It is not planned (yet) to release a ‘Developer Edition’.

      Kind Regards,
      Axel

        Hi Axel,

The release of this software to the community is a great accomplishment. Thank you 🙂

        That said, two issues:

        1. In the download are it is classified under the wrong section (Main Releases instead of Composition Environment)

        2. No Developer License planned? This seems to defeat the purpose of offering the new developer license. Hopefully this can be rectified quickly so that the developer community for whom a trial version license is not appropriate can stay stay up to date!

        Ethan

        Thanks, Axel.

After clicking on the “Click here for download” link, we get to a page with the license in a text box and radio buttons to select a file for download.

I copied the quoted text from that text box with the license agreement. I just re-checked the text and, if you scroll down, you will see the paragraph I was referring to.

        Regards,
        Renato

I am a bit disappointed of the realisation of the ‘Developer Edition’ license.

Instead of simply removing the restrictions from all the trial versions available (why not keeping it that simple?) there are only some products covered by it and you still have to reinstall the whole stuff after 90 days.

In real life we are not installing a trial version and work day and night on it for 90 days. It happens often that you work with it for some days (or for a presentation at a customer’s site), then do other things for weeks or months and then work with it again. Therefore it is really annoying when the license period is over althoug you only worked for a few hours with the system.

    Hello Axel,

I have a question about the delivery of NW CE 7.2.
Is the NW CE 7.2 still in rampup and do you perhaps know when it’ll be officially released?
    Thanks.

    Kind regards,
    Harris.

    Hello Axel,

I have had this trial version installed.  I am playing with the BPM and VC features with the NWDS 7.2 kit you provided.  So far it works fine except the connection to ABAP backend.  I have added a PI 7.1.1 system in the R/3 destination configuration in the NWDS Preferences.  When I tried to search for Bapi/RFC using this destination in VC it’s giving below error.  I am pretty sure there is no problem with the network connection and the authentication data.  Do you know if this is a limitation with the trial version or some other confirguration I missed?  Thanks.

Like everyone else I know at different companies, inside and outside firewalls, I’m getting the following error:
“Unfortunately we have trouble completing your download request. Please contact sdn@sap.com for further support.”
SAP is ignoring this. I’ve sent several e-mails as the message says but just get a canned reply.
    Please help.

        Hello André,

I’m sad, but I got no answer and no solution from
        anybody.

I hoped especially for any information from Axel for he posted the blog and seemed to be an expert
in CE, but I got no reply.

Did you find anything useful in the forum.

Please notify me if you get the issue solved.

        Regards

        Stefan

            Hi Stefan,
at the end I used an english version of Win XP. The installation was successful. It seems 7.2 is not running on german OS any more (see inst guide) although it was working with 7.1 and 7.0.
            Regards André

    Hi All,
When I start the Evaluation installation appears the message:
“Before you start the installation, make sure that you have identified the required capabilities as described in the Master Guide.”

Where can i get the Master Guide?
    Thanks, CD

I found the Master Guide and Installation Guide for CE 7.2 at:

      http://help.sap.com/content/documentation/netweaver/docu_nw_ce_design.htm

In the Instalation Guide there are some paths that I did not find, for example: http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Download
->Installations and Upgrades->Installations and Upgrades – Entry by Application Group
      ->SAP NetWeaver ->SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.2
      (on Page 11 of 34)

I installed the Server of CE 7.2 and the Developper Studio.
Now I want to install ESR (Enterprise Service Repository) but can not find the .SCA files  needed. I searched at Service Marketplace but without success.

      See:
Install Guide for SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.2 Trial Version

      Best Regards, CD

    Hi.

The installation was successfull. But after the installation the server stays at the state “some processes running”.
SAP Management console displays only one error ” OS collector is not running”.

    Has anyone experienced this problem?

I downloaded the trial versions, updated it, but there is no SAP perspective visible, like Rules Composer, WebDynpro etc.
How can they be added? Does the trial version need special authorization?

      Hi Michael,

Which OS are you using? If windows 7, try adding
      -Dos.name=Windows XP
      -Dos.version=5.1
to the end of SapNetweaverDeveloperStudio.ini file… Hope it will help you…

The download page mentioned that the required OS version to install the server is Microsoft 32bit OS though the official version requires 64bit OS.

Could you please clarify if the trial version truly needs 32bit OS? My customer failed to install this with the 32 bit OS.

    1. JIANNAN CHE
I have tried to installed the trial version on 64bit version.  The installation completed successfully but could not start the instance.  It worked fine with the 32bit version.
