PI/XI: Adapter FAQs revised with NWA access

I’ve noticed a few questions on the PI forum where people were asking how to start/restart
a java service for PI and how to change it’s properties. As the FAQ notes don’t mention
how to do it with Netweaver Administrator yet I decided to post a short info on how to do it.

Starting/Restarting/Stopping Services

Some of the Services sometimes need to be restarted in order to refresh th metadata like
XPI Service: CPA Cache for RFC metadata in case of changes to the RFC structure.

This can be done from SAP NetWeaver Administrator (link /nwa):
and then: Operation Management -> Systems -> Start & Stop.
(or the quick link /nwa/start-stop)

Then you need to select Java EE Services and you’re ready to search for your service
like shown in the Figure below:

Next you can restart/start/stop the service required.

Changing service parameters

There are also times when you need to change some of PI’s service parameters like
XPI Service: AF Core which contains different parameters for messages

This can be done from SAP NetWeaver Administrator (link /nwa):
and then: Configuration Management -> Infrastructure -> Java System Properties -> Details -> Services
(or the quick link /nwa/sys-config)

Then you need to select Services and you’re read to search for your service as shown in the Figure below:

Next if you select the parameter you need to change and it has a modifiable flag
you can choose modify button and change it’s value.

Hope this gives you a short info on how to do those two useful things in SAP PI 7.1
