Last month I posted a blog with recent market research showing some signs of recovery in the job market.  Since then, new info came out that I would like to share with you because there is a silver lining for many SAP professionals.

Foote Partners, an IT research and consulting firm that tracks compensation and hiring trends in the US posted an interesting news release and related study.  Citing numbers released at the beginning of December from the United States Department of Labor, Foote points to significant job losses in IT throughout 2009, however they also point to job creation toward the end of 2009 in some IT segments.  The segment with the most growth was “Management and Technical Consulting Services”, followed by “Computer System Design and Related Services”.

Although Foote does not expect hiring to really pick up until the end of 2010, beginning of 2011, several SAP related skills made it to the “2010 IT Skills Hot List”. Some of the skills listed include SAP Supplier Relationship Mgmt, SAP Supply Chain Mgmt, SAP ERP, SAP NetWeaver, Business Process Mgmt, and Others.  Not surprisingly, these are also the areas where we have a lot of partner and customer activity, including right here on SCN.  This info might be useful for those of you trying to figure out where to take your career, what fields to get trained in or what path to choose as a new graduate.
