With SAP new roadmap on SAP BI - many customers are looking to upgrade their existing BI environment to stay with the fast sequence of changes being propagated with regard to integration with other products etc...
In many case customers are updating their SP levels to take full advantage of the new options that SAP has to offer. I was asked to do an analysis on moving my client's systems from SPS11 to SPS18 on a BI7.0 system.
We all tend to think that an SP Upgrade is usually more of BASIS and not much work for a BI consultant other than testing once the SPS is applied. But then by seeing the forums a constant question that comes up is: What is the role of a BW consultant in an SP upgrade? What should I do and sequence of doing things...
I have tried to answer the following by means of a checklist that I created and found very useful in my previous engagement and am sure that others will too.
Also since this is my first attempt at creating such a list - I would like to ask the community if they have had similar issues in SPS Upgrades and please add to the same if you see something missed. Looking forward to your inputs.
