A recent Flash Components for Visual Composer 7.0  - Flexibility is the name of the game from Amir Mimran told us the most important news about Visual Composer ever. Our favorite tool has no longer any limitations, from now we are able to create our own Flex components and embed them into our Visual Composer Application.

This blog will help you to test this new functionality with an xCelsius component.

 The new Flash menu

First apply the SP5 patch to your portal 7.0.1 and then you'll be able to discover a new option in the Visual Composer menu : "Flash".

Importing a xCelsius Component

In this document, there is a description of several xCelsius components for Visual Composer.

Download the Radar Component.

In the new flex menu, select the Flash Component Manager and import it.

Here is the result, you have a description of the component and its size.

The model

Create a new model, on the storyboard, you have a new "Flash View" component, drag it to the design view and select your Radar component.

From the input entry of the component, create 3 tables.

This time, we are not going to use a bapi or a web service in order to test our model. A simple table is enough.

At the end your model should look like this.

Arrange your layout like this.

Test

Compile and deploy your model. Add values to your 3 tables, click on "Submit" and enjoy the result.

There are many other components available, Gauges, Sliders, Europe Map, etc...

This is really the beginning of a new era for Visual Composer. If you want to go to RIA, VC is a good start.
