Recently I was at the SAP Business Objects User Group Conference and did a session on the basics of SAP for Business Objects experts.  I wanted to do this session because, as someone with a background in SAP, it  has been a challenge to know where to start in learning Business Objects – understanding where my current skills best match with BO capabilities.   Since Business Objects folks could feel the same way, it seemed like some basic SAP information might be helpful!

It was great to be at the conference and to meet some BO gurus.  One of the folks I met was Dave Rathbun who has a great blog on Business Objects.  SAP Mentor Monday: Dave Rathbun is also an SAP mentor and said the session on SAP for Business Objects experts was helpful, so the decision was made to break up the presentation into sections and deliver it as elearning on SCN.

This is a four part elearning series:

  1. SAP for Business Objects Experts:  Part 1 – Top 5 SAP Business Suite Applications and What They Do
  2. SAP for Business Objects Experts:  Part 2 – Top 5 things you should know about SAP NetWeaver
  3. SAP for Business Objects Experts:  Part 3 – Joint SAP and Business Object solutions on the market
  4. SAP for Business Objects Experts:  Part 4 – Natural integration points between SAP and Business Objects

Parts 3 and 4 have demos you can see from the link to the elearning.   Once you listen to the presentation, be sure to check out the related demo!

So, if you are a Business Objects expert with interest in learning something about SAP  – then I hope you will find this series informative and helpful!

Thanks Ginger, this content is really appreciated.  Getting an intro into the SAP stack from a BOBJ background has been quite difficult up to now, so it’s fantastic to see something like this.

    Thanks again!

      Hi Josh
Thanks for the response!  I’m in the process of learning BOBJ stuff – so please post any particular areas where we should do more elearning from the SAP side!

      All the best

Thank you for putting in a wonderful presentation that gives a solid walkthrough various SAP acronyms and how Business Objects align with them. A clear voice and a very friendly presentation.

Ginger – great session at the GBN Conference. Unfortunately I had to leave early to attend one of the Influence Council sessions, but good to see the presentation here! This is a much-needed 101 course for BusinessObjects folks who don’t know anything (or very little) about SAP offerings.

    Thanks!

Good materials. Some “formal” classroom training options from SAP-BOBJ Education would also be great…

Example – “SAP reporting with CRYSTAL REPORTS 2008”

We’ve spent the last year learning all this stuff(which wasn’t easy) and you really summarized it very well.  Very impressive and great for new hires/co-ops in our company that are new to either SAP or BOBJ or both.
