Learn how to speed up your applications over wide area networks at TechED 2009 – AccAD sessions

At TechEd 2009 you will have the chance to learn more about Accelerated Application Delivery – a complementary offering to SAP NetWeaver that boosts performance of web-based applications over long distance and limited bandwidth connections. In Phoenix, Vienna and Bangalore we will host several lectures and hands-on sessions that aim to give you insights into the offering, show potential use cases for your company and of course give you the chance to experience the performance boost and easy setup yourself. These are the sessions in detail:

Lecture: Speed Up Global Access to Web Applications with Accelerated Application Delivery (UP108, for Beginners)

This session will give you some first insights into SAP’s offering. You will learn about the basic value proposition, high-level landscape, underlying optimization mechanisms and prerequisites for an implementation. In addition, you will see a lot of updated benchmark measurements how AccAD can improve performance for selected applications such as SAP CRM, SAP NetWeaver BW, SAP BusinessObjects Xcelsius Enterprise, SAP ERP (selected Web Dynpro ABAP application). As a round-off you will get a short outlook on the future development.

Lecture: Best Practices – Integrate Accelerated Application Delivery into Your Landscape (UP205, for Intermediate Level)

Within this session we will cover a lot of landscape related topics that will cover most of the immediate questions that might come up when you consider setting up an AccAD landscape. This lecture aims to provide answers to questions like:

  • How to select the right trial scenario for you first proof-of-concept?
  • Which sizing guidelines do apply for the AccAD components? How can you achieve high availability?
  • How does the typical installation process look like and which steps should you prepare for this?
  • How can you integrate AccAD in your existing infrastructure, i.e. where to place it in the data center and which integration options exist for the remote office network?

For this lecture, I recommend to visit UP108 first or to bring some basic knowledge on AccAD from earlier webinars or SDN presentations.

Your speaker for this session is:

Hands-On: Setting up an Accelerated Application Delivery for SAP NetWeaver Landscape (UP360, for Intermediate Level)

This hands-on will give you the chance to try out AccAD for yourself. Here we provide you with access to an SAP NetWeaver Portal, Knowledge Management and SAP ERP application (Employee Self-Service – Web Dynpro Java based application). You will measure the performance for those applications without AccAD. Then the speakers will demonstrate the configuration of the overall landscape and you have the chance to install a Client Front-End yourself. After this exercise, you can measure the performance of the applications when using AccAD.

Again, I would recommend to bring some basic knowledge about AccAD to this session – either by visiting UP108 or from earlier SDN presentations or webinars.
