This blog gives you a step by step creation of a simple Dashboard using Xcelsius. For this we are considering comparison of Employee Salaries in an organization.
Xcelsius is an environment to design highly interactive, flash-based BI dashboards. These Dashboards can be published in Netweaver Portal, PDF, documents, and MS Office Tools. They are fast to deploy and can work on SAP and/or non-SAP data.
Step 1: Importing the excel data sheet
Import the Excel file into your Xcelsius on which the dashboard to be created .The excel data should contain KPIs as it will add value to your dashboards.
Step 2: Creating a chart for the imported data
Once you import your excel file, create a chart by selecting the chart type from the components tool bar on the left hand side and drag it to the design area.
Step 3: Data selection for the Chart
Double click on the chart and go to the general tab of the chart properties. Give a suitable title and
Sub-title for the chart .select the radio button By Series as shown in the screen shot and add the Categories.
Similarly add the categories into the series.
Step 4: Adding the category labels.
Add the category labels which you require in the X-axis. In this case the categories will be the Year.
Step 5: Adding Gauges for a single value.
Add a gauge to the design area for a single value representation. Select GAUGE from the components toolbar and place it in the design area. Here in this case the gauge is created for the latest single values (2008).
Similarly gauges can be created for each single value representation for different categories. Create multiple gauges accordingly.
Step 6: Adding a play control for a single value.
Add a play control to the design area for a single value representation. Select PLAY CONTROL from the components toolbar and place it in the design area. Here in this case the play control is created for the latest single values (2008) .
Similarly play control can be created for each single value representation for different categories. Create multiple Play Controls accordingly.
Step 7: Adding a background image for the dashboard.
Select the image component from the components tool bars and place it in the design area. This is basically to place an embedded image in the dashboard like Company Logo.
Step 7: Import image to the dashboard
Import the image to the dashboard by clicking on the import button and adjust the transparency for the visibility. Basically the rate of transparency determines the image visibility, more the transparency rate less the visibility and vice versa.
Step 8: The final presentable INCOME COMPARISON dashboard is ready in few minutes.
