I have just completed a challenging project.   ABAP proxy played a big part of the integration of the Interfacing Shipments How?  I'd like to invite everyone with an interest to watch the session.  It should be a lot of fun!

If you plan on doing an integration project, and using process integration (PI), this session would be a great one to attend.  (Even if you are not planning on PI this would be a good session.  Proxies are used with more than PI.)  I plan to give an brief overview of PI, and how we used it.   And then move on to the FUN stuff.  I bet you didn't guess, but the programming is the fun stuff.

I plan to give some easy PI examples.

PI Mapping Example:

Then I'll explain a little about ABAP Proxy:

I love examples.  So I plan on giving as many examples as possible in this presentation.   Here's one of the examples I'll give.  (Just to get you interested.)

There isn't a great way to easily and quickly find information in the monitor for XML messages.   I actually think I found a similar code snipet on SDN.  I can't find it again.  Anyway in my proxy I used the following code:

This code will get the message id that is used in the XML monitor.   It will be stored in a table by the lookup field. The information will be stored in a table.

A programwill be created that uses the table as a look up table.  It utilizes SAP standard code to display the XML message.

In the presentation I'm planning on going into more detail.   We did not use fault objects.  I'm going to go into fault objects, and how they could save us time.   You'll get the overall view of the project.  It will be done in a highly technical way.

Expect to see code examples, and an explaination for the code examples.

The XML creation involves deep structures.  I'll go through some of the things we did when working with a deep structure.

So if any of the above appeals to you - please stop in for the session.   I enjoy questions, and comments.   I LOVE technical work.  So again this session will be highly technical with a quick overview of the project.   If time permits, I'd like to do a live demo of our system at the end of the session.   That way you can see how it all works together.

Here's the abstract:

"Expand your ABAP skills. Learn ABAP Proxy! Learn about some of the features available when you combine ABAP Proxy with SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (SAP NetWeaver PI), and discover the way the SAP NetWeaver PI will work for you. Highlights of the session: SAP NetWeaver PI monitoring, alerts, fault objects, and inbound and outbound ABAP proxy examples. Learn how to start the proxy via user exits. Start to look at the tools available in the system: inbound/outbound queues, background jobs, and the ability to trigger the class directly from an ABAP program. There will be a live demo of how this all comes together to create a seamless shipment integration. The focus will be on the ABAP Proxy."

This session is CD203 and it is on 10/16/2009 8:00:00 AM - 9:00:00 AM, Room: L14.  Hope to see you there!
