We conducted a performance test using SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 Enhancement Package 1 (EHP 1) for showing what improvements you can achieve when making use of the new performance relevant features like the advanced adapter engine, message packaging, and additional configuration options for orchestrated integration processes using the business process engine. For the test typical customer integration use cases such as SOA scenarios, batch data transfers, and cross-component business process management (ccBPM) have been chosen. These have been performed in a medium-sized hardware environment which corresponds to common sizing of customer installations.
The results demonstrate that SAP NetWeaver PI is an enterprise-ready, scalable, SOA middleware solution for high-volume scenarios. With SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 (EHP 1) you can process 325 small messages per second and beyond (or calculated to 28 million messages per day) by utilizing some of the performance-enhancing features. This is helpful if speed is a crucial factor for your business. If throughput is more important, the test results showed that you can process 23.57 MB per second, or a calculated daily throughput of more than 1,988 GB. Take a look at the test report SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 - Benefit from Performance Improvements for further details.

After scanning the report you are keen on getting to know some examples of customers who are running high volume scenarios with SAP NetWeaver PI? Then just take a look at the presentation SOA Middleware - High Volume Scenarios in SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1: For example the first customer, who went life with SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1, set a high volume scenario life within 3 weeks which processes 1.2 million messages overnight with response times of around 200ms for an end to end B2B transaction! In addition to that the presentation provides information concerning new performance relevant features and includes the results of the latest performance test as well.

Now you would like to know how to get there as well?
