Are you really managing all your compliance mandates effectively?

Most companies have fragmented business process, data in many places, and systems that address individual compliance and sustainability demands. They don’t have a way to holistically and seamlessly manage and control compliance. With escalating global regulations on the doorstep, this situation is becoming a competitive threat.

These new global government mandates affect a company’s “right to operate” . The chemical industry is at an inflection point — facing unprecedented challenges to meet government-mandated compliance, sustainability and security requirements.

The European Union, the US Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Homeland Security along with state and local governments are stepping up their efforts to enforce these requirements.  And emerging legislation will only compound the problem.

Top of mind regulatory challenges such as: REACh, Media, Greenhouse Gas and the new CFATS (Chemical Facilities Anti-Terrorism Standards) –in particular Cyber Security — could have serious business implications if not properly addressed. In fact, addressed independently, each  has fragmented  business processes, data and IT systems which significantly increase the cost to comply.

A unified approach to compliance increases the reliability and predictability of information, enhances performance and helps reduce time to compliance, meet compliance expectations, avoid fines and sanctions, and minimize reputation risk.

Chemical manufacturers have a unique opportunity to address historical challenges and expanding requirements by leveraging technology to align and integrate disparate systems and data.  By doing this, they will have the leverage of an enterprise-wide compliance and sustainability solution, with a common business process and integrated IT systems.

Chemical manufacturers should take a hard look at where they stand today and determine what they need to do to align around common goals, identify critical areas of risk, and plan their progression to efficient, sustainable compliance.
