This was the Eclipse DemoCamp in Walldorf
The show is over. It turned out that with almost 200 attendees the Eclipse DemoCamp in Walldorf on May 19, 2009, probably was the largest DemoCamp to date. And that even though at the same time, just a few hundred meters away, the big farewell party for Henning Kagermann took place.
With Hervé Couturier, Executive Vice President of SAP’s Technology Development organization, and Ralph Mueller, Director of the Eclipse Foundation, prominent representatives of both SAP and the Eclipse Foundation delivered Welcome messages.
The main program consisted of 8 demos, covering such diverse topics as Memory Analyzer and RAP, Table Views, Dynamic OSGi, Modeling and Virtual Embedded Devices, to name just a few. Thanks again to all presenters for all the cool stuff.
Luckily, the weather allowed to finish off the evening on the patio of the “Internationales Schulungszentrum”, giving the opportunity to meet and to enjoy some pretzels and a beer or two.
Take a look at the Picture Gallery and the videos – everything is linked from the DemoCamp Wiki page.
There is a very interesting article at heise.de. It gives a good impression of how the relationship between SAP and Eclipse is seen outside of SAP.
We have received very positive feedback. Here is a selection:
“Ralph Müller: Feedback was very positive, Karsten Schmidt and his team have organized a great event.”
“ademelt: had a lot of fun at yesterday’s #eclipse #democampwalldorf “
“fjakobs: Back from #democampwalldorf. Interesting conversations with CAS, andrena and EclipseSource folks.”

This was the first but hopefully not the last Eclipse DemoCamp at SAP headquarters in Walldorf.
