Direct Store Delivery (DSD) is a key method of selling and distributing products for a variety of industries. Although DSD gains major and steadily increasing attention in the market, it is hardly covered by literature and empirical studies. Driven by SAP Business Transformation Consulting CoE Consumer Products, the Industry Business Unit Consumer Products and the University of Regensburg, Germany, this book throws light on the topic of DSD from different perspectives, providing fresh in-sights and benefits. Hereby, the book brings together contributions from both, practitioners and academics. In fact, this is the first publication regarding DSD covering aspects of the business process from various angles.

Dear Sir and Madam,

Referring to a former blog on this interesting topic: Direct store delivery (DSD) is a key method of selling and distributing products for a large variety of industries, like food, beverage, home personal care products, and like wholesale and distribution, oil & gas, service industries to name industries beyond consumer products. (e.g. Direct Store Delivery (DSD) – Against all odds? or Conducting the first Global Analysis on Direct Store Delivery (DSD): Approach & Key Findings). In the light of this, several scientific researches regarding the Direct Store Delivery (DSD) process have been performed together with the University of Regensburg, Germany, and embracing more than 300 companies out of more than 40 nations.

Based on initial research, SAP Business Transformation Consulting CoE Consumer Products, the Industry Business Unit Consumer Products and the University of Regensburg have been in the driver seat for a publication on the business process of DSD. The publication has been released end of March 2009.

Globally, this is the first publication regarding DSD, covering aspects of the business process from different angles comprehensively (manufacturers, retailers, scientific institutions, software vendors). From business perspective, the key companies out of the different industries participated and contributed to this collaborative exercise. Please find a condensed content overview as well as a list of the contributors here

To its readers, this book generates numerous benefits as it covers different topics. Amongst others, it delivers a deep understanding of the DSD business process and why companies use it. Furthermore, the global status quo of the DSD usage and details of implementation is illustrated and multi-level insights (strategic, operational) are given.

With releasing the first publication addressing one of the strategic key topics, SAP and especially SAP Business Transformation Consulting, continues to prove its deep business process as well as customer knowledge and solidifies its position as a driver of industry expertise.
