BPM & VC Integration Is Here!

Visual Composer is a powerful tool for modeling of application UIs that can be used as standalone applications or as part of a more complex composite application or process. BPM (Business Process Management) is a powerful tool for developing rule-based composite business processes. With NetWeaver 7.2, a full integration of Visual Composer UIs within the BPM process will be available and the Visual Composer UIs will be consumed by BPM or generated automatically from a BPM process.

With the first release of BPM (enhancement package 1 of Composition Environment 7.1) this integration is not yet available.
To support customers that want to consume the Visual Composer UIs within their BPM processes already today (with enhancement package 1 of CE7.1) – a workaround that provides an interim solution was developed.

The workaround supports the consumption of the Visual Composer UIs in BPM by using a Web Dynpro Java wrapper application. It automatically creates the Visual Composer UI data structure, together with the necessary methods and events in the Web Dynpro wrapper component. Detailed, step-by-step instructions and screencam that explain how to use the workaround solution, are available here

Since this workaround is only an interim solution for CE 7.1 EHP1, it will be replaced by the full BPM and Visual Composer integration solution in NetWeaver 7.2. Note that when you upgrade to NetWeaver 7.2 – the CE 7.1 EHP1 processes will continue to run, however any modification of these processes (in design time) is done using the NetWeaver 7.2 full-fledged solution.

Enjoy, Dafna

      Hi,

Do you have any news on when this new CE might become available as an official release? According to Jan Rausher's blog 'Try out the new evaluation version of SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 EHP1 SP1!' the date would be 15 May.

      Is this still the case?

      Hi Dafna,

I went through all the necessary steps in the tutorial and screencam video, but when I run the wizard I get an error right after the Rename step. It seems that the bridge component is corrupt (at least that's what the log file in WD Perspective says). I've recreated the bridge, plugin and WD DCs several times, but to no avail. Any idea why this is?

I've also noticed that the plugin descriptions are different from my view and the screencam. Are there different versions?

In the meantime we managed to get the VC integration working by replicating the wizard steps ourselves and comparing code like-for-like. Obviously the wizard would make our lives a lot easier.

If you could let me know your thoughts!

      Many thanks in advance.

      M

      Hi Dafna.

The first, thank you very much for you information.
But I have a problem with our integration, we have completed the all steps from "how to" and the final result has been fine (the same way that the video guide), but when we try to deploy the Web dynpro generated in the guide (firsttask), we have the following error:

      Unresolved dependency:
name: 'tc~vc~glx~bridgecomp', vendor: 'test.sap.com' ( not found in the admitted batch items and the repository)

Could you help us? thank you

      Hi Isidro,

Have you deployed the HMVCGLXBRIDGE.sca to your J2EE server?

If you still have problems, please let me know your phone call so I could call you to discuss this.

      Thanks,

      Natty

      Hi Natty.

We have done the all steps from the Video, so we suppose that when we have done import SC into localserver of the HMVCGLXBRIDGE.sca this is the step necessary to deploy the DC in J2EE server. Anyway we deploy directly the DC with right-click on element  tc/vc/glx/bridgecomp from HMVCGLXBRIDGE too, but the view log says that the "DC tc/vc/glx/bridgecomp contains no archive for deployment".

      Are we deploying properly?

Anyway we think that a sap spain guy will contact you to prepare a conference, you, he and me.

      Thank you very much.
      Isidro.

Hi ! This is great news. Be followed the tutorial and made this work. But when the user clicks the task on the UWL, the new screen appears, with the process header of the webdynpro screen, and the visual composer data contents in the main area, but automatically turns the task as completed !! and the users does not have the change to see the data on the screen. What are we doing wrong? Thanks. Regards, Matias.
