Most of my colleagues - and me - already arrived on Saturady night via various routes at the Gaylord Palms resort in Orlando for the SAP Insider Conference. Just a few weeks back the same conference already took place at Nice, France. And already on sunday morning, 9:00 a.m., Dan started the first PLM related activity of the SAP Insider Event by presentig the Jumpstart session.

In this three hour presentation (supported by a break) Dan gave an holistic overview on various aspects of SAP PLM - no basic knowledge of SAP PLM was required. Even considering the facts, that it was Orlando and Sunday morning, more than 70 intersted attendees were present.

The next day Richard gave in his keynote (attended by ~2000 attendees) a very good mixture of presentation, demos and cutomer testimonials (Colgate-Palmolive also talked about their NPDI strategy with SAP PLM). The main moto was about the global economy, what individual companies could do - and how SAP is supporting these activities.

One of the demos, that were presented during Richard's keynote, came form the Integrated Product Development Value Scenario. Here it was demonstrated, how a direct linkage between development, product management, manufacturing and sourcing helps to effectively react on issues.

Shortly after the keynote I gave an update on the Engineering Desktop. Here I especially highlighted the advanced capabilities like handling of variant configuration or collaboration inside the new UI. The external collaboration was also demoed during my presentation. I was really surpised by the huge interest during the session (the room was completely full...) and also by the many interesting and good questions after the presentation.

Then it was time for Robb together with Mark from Right Hemisphere to highlight the advantages of the integrated offerings from Right Hemisphere and SAP inside PLM, SCM or Manufacturing. Showing e.g. an RFQ pdf-file, supported by an embedded 3d graphic, is always a good showcase. This is also true for the training videos showing e.g., how to assemble products. Marks also gave a short training on how easy it is to create these videos.

Later the day Markus and Dan (again...) presented details on the topic of Recipe Management and Renato gave an update on Easy Document Management.

After all it was a great start for this SAP Insider event!
