Announcing Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0

I’m proud to announce the general availability of Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0.

Why should you care?  This is the Java runtime environment that complements Crystal Reports 2008.  All the great new features of Crystal Reports 2008 are now available to Java developers in a lightweight, Java runtime engine:

  • On report sorting
  • Parameter panel
  • Support for Flash embedded in reports
  • Support for crosstab calculated members

In addition, it provides:

  • Improved platform support (including Netweaver CE 7.1)
  • Excel export (data only)
  • Embedded fonts in PDF export
  • New API for report creation and modification
  • Simplified licensing aligns with Crystal Reports 2008

And did I mention it’s free?  (registration is required)

      Hi Blair,

is the 2.0 version mentioned in your posting correct ? CE 7.10 is based on Eclipse 3.3 and the next release will be based on Ganymede. Eclipse 2 was used in NetWeaver versions <= 7.0x.

      Hi,

Netweaver CE 7.1 is supported as a runtime environment, not a design time environment.

So you can deploy the CR4E 2.0 jar files to Netweaver CE 7.1 and run a report.

You cannot use the CR4E 2.0 design time tooling with CE 7.1 because it is based on Eclipse 3.3 as you mention.

Thanks for pointing this out I will update the PAR to clarify this.

      Blair
