The most convincing SOA case I have ever seen

For each SOA project one challenge is to convince all people involved and especially the business users. As business people do not care about the technical details the business needs must always be at the forefront. Last week at the IT summit in Germany SAP Research and other partners presented the SOKNOS project – i.e. a SOA approach in the area of disaster management in an exceptional and very convincing manner.

Just have a look at the video. This video taught me a useful lesson: Executives and practitioners in disaster management most often do not care about SOA today many of them do not even know what it means. But they care about their missions and command and control processes. The whole video is about SOA but it does not mention the word. For me this is communicating SOA at its best.

And it even goes beyond the boundaries of this industry and was featured in the main TV news in Germany (sorry it is in German and the piece begins at 20 minutes 50).
