Whether you’re a Help Portal regular, or a casual drop in, you may have found it hard to figure out if much has been going on behind the homepage of the site. Can you tell at a glance if something has been updated since your last visit or if there’s something that you missed? How do you know?
To tackle this problem we asked ourselves ‘What does the average user want a homepage to communicate?’ and we decided upon two important factors:
Timely content – this will tell the user:
- This site is being updated frequently
- What has changed recently
Hints at the good stuff – this will tell the user:
- Possible content highlights
- What everyone else found interesting
To keep you posted on what we’ve been updating recently we’ve added a ‘What’s New’ section that will inform you of any documentation updates or any changes in general to the site.
To help nudge you towards what other people are checking out, we’re posting a Top 5 Popular Documentation that will focus on the most frequently accessed documentation in the last couple of weeks.
We’re hoping this will help our users find those updates that they are looking for faster or maybe find something interesting that they weren’t looking for, and possibly, encourage them to return and see what’s changed more often.
