New Home Page for Web Dynpro ABAP

We’ve spent the last few weeks revamping the SDN pages for Web Dynpro ABAP. Why?

Well, first of all they haven’t been updated for some time. Secondly, we have some important new stuff to roll out – like NetWeaver 7.01 (Adobe Flash Islands, Drag&Drop, new UI elements). Finally, I noticed that people were asking questions in the forums about topics that have already been covered by SDN tutorials, articles, etc, but were in some cases fairly well-hidden (such as “Select Options”).

  • So we have:Brought all the Web Dynpro ABAP information under one roof: Capabilities -> User Productivity -> User Interface Technology -> Web Dynpro ABAP
  • Created a new home page. This lets us feature the increasing number of new SAP and Community contributions – blogs, tutorials etc. (BTW, we’ve had great content sent to us so far – please keep it coming!)
  • Finally, because the Floorplan Manager (FPM) is an important, and much talked-about innovation, we’ve included a link to the FPM topic page directly from the WD ABAP home page. (The Floorplan Manager is based on Web Dynpro ABAP and provides a framework allowing customers to adapt delivered UIs to their needs easily without modifications, through configuration).

  • “I have a dream”…
It would be VERY useful to have access to a spreadsheet containing a simple list of all the standard Web Dynpro Applications available since a certain EhP (probably EhP4 for the moment).
I know that this is not in charge to the Web Dynpro for ABAP team but to the applications teams but dreaming cost not so much…
    • I second Sergio’s petition! The standard application could be searched for of course, but they are harder to find being mixed up with the lot of SAP delivered examples and tutorials.
      • Dear Sergio, dear Alejandro,
I apologize for the delay but I have searched high and low for such a list, with no joy. I am still in contact with the Business Suite regarding this issue, but as far as I am aware, no such list exists.
        Best wishes,
        Julie Plummer
