Today is the opening day of TechEd but I had gone to office to take care of a Go-live related issue. Anyway it was possible to catch the live stream of the Keynote session by Peter Zencke followed by Partner sessions of Sanjoy Bose of IBM and Sanjeev Vohra of Accenture. The theme of keynote was 3 Co’s – Connect, Collaborate and Co-innovate. Although the keynote address was full the turnout to TechEd was much less compared to last year (4100+ versus 6000) signs of tough times.

In a way I did not miss much from the keynote as I along with two other Mentors Dipankar Saha and Rajesh Banka were taken to a Press Conference by Michael Bechauf. You can read about Kiruba Shankar’s blog covering TechEd. I had planned for a four hour Hands-on Session LCM160 System Performance Tuning for Beginners by Ashok Hake and Pragnesh KRV. I missed a good part of the Hands-on session while attending to the Press Conference but overall the Hands-on session gave enough inputs to take back to my project and apply.

The opening day of TechEd is also the most happening day with Demo Jam in the evening. Having been to last years Demo Jam I knew what to expect and made sure those I knew attending for the first time did not miss this event. As usual it was Craig Cmehil and Ian Kimball to set the context of the evening, introducing the Top Contributors to the huge crowd before finally kicking off Demo Jam.

Rather than being just an audience enjoying Demo Jam from first row, I was tweeting live for a change 🙂 and later on ESMEd to a global audience. It was simply thrilling to see Community Members from around the world wanting to catch proceeding from Demo Jam “live”.
So here is an offline report of Demo Jam as it unfolded through the evening ….
