This video blog addresses a common customer concern: reducing downtime during regular system maintenance. This demo illustrates the applying of ABAP support packages using the downtime minized mode.

By utilizing the downtime minized option, the system administrator has more control over the phases of importing ABAP support packages. Our test system is running on a Windows 2003 64-bit server with a quad core CPU and 4GB of RAM. This demo imports 3 – PI-Basis support packages. The total runtime for the import was just over 7 minutes. The downtime phase (Import 2) of the import only took 2 minutes and 7 seconds. The remainder of the tasks were accomplished during normal production mode.

      Hi Flavya,

Thank you for kind comment. I have delivered sessions at TechED where many system admins were unaware of the downtime minimzed mode for ABAP support packages.

My system administration video blog series is geared to provide information and examples of the tools for maintaining SAP systems.

      Best Regards,
      Storm
