Hi all,

TechEd Las Vegas is approaching quickly and of course I would like to highlight some really nice sessions beforehand.

Have you tuned the performance of your portal over and over again but the end users somewhere in the world still complain about bad performance? Does the download of KM documents take forever if you are not located close to the portal server? … Then accelerated application delivery (AccAD) is really something you should really dive into at this years TechEd. What is AccAD? This new complimentary offering of SAP NetWeaver helps you to improve the performance of web-based applications over WAN. AccAD is currently in Ramp-Up – thus a really hot topic (btw: find more information here at SDN).

AccAD falls somewhere in between Lifecycle Management and User Productivity, so we decided to put this into the User Productivity track around portal & collaboration, because there we see a huge benefit and demand.

1 Hour Lecture: Global Portal Implementations – UP106 (Las Vegas, , Berlin , Bangalore)

This lecture provides a high level overview on different topics related to global portal considerations. It will cover aspects especially important in portals with worldwide user groups. Topics that will be introduced are role-based access, application integration, Federated Portal Network, and accelerated application delivery.

1 Hour Lecture: Accelerated Application Delivery: Enhancing the Performance of Web Applications – UP108 (Las Vegas , Berlin , Bangalore)

This lecture provides an overview on accelerated application delivery and its use cases. The session shows its capabilities on speeding up access to web applications like the SAP NetWeaver Portal. You will learn how to mitigate bandwidth constraints as well as effects of latency between remote office locations and the datacenter with accelerated application delivery.

4 Hours Hands-On:  Enhancing Performance of Web Applications Using Accelerated Application Delivery – UP360 (Las VegasBerlin , Bangalore )

This session is a great opportunity to get you hands on AccAD. It will explain the accelerated application delivery technology itself although we would strongly recommend joining the lecture UP108 for the basics beforehand. The participants will set up and configure an accelerated application delivery infrastructure simulating a WAN environment and will then compare the performance of an SAP NetWeaver Portal system directly or via AccAD. We would recommend to bring some basic network know-how for this session.

Some more sessions will mention AccAD as well:

  • How SAP Uses the SAP NetWeaver Portal as its Corporate Intranet Site (UP110): In this lecture you will hear about the first live implementation of Accelerated Application Delivery. The SAP internal Corporate Portal uses it to allow fast and timely access for offices spread over the world.
  • Designing a Well-Performing Web Infrastructure for an SAP NetWeaver System (LCM265): This hands-on session covers multiple aspects in context of web infrastructures for an SAP NetWeaver platform. The performance optimizations will cover AccAD as well.

SAP Regional Implementation Group (RIG), Development and Product Management will present and accompany the sessions in the different locations. Looking forward to seeing you at TechED 2008 …

Best regards

Jana

    Hi Jana,

I must say, timing for AccAD can’t be better.. where most of customers have already implemented SAP Portal, after a year or so of successful operation most of them tend to empower users with loads of information across globs. And mostly this get caught between richness/variety/distribution of content and performance of Portal.
I have already seen your presentation under e-learning. This can truly unleashes barrier and let SAP Portal be “Anywhere, Anytime”.

Wish the whole team very best luck for these sessions. I will be there in Bangalore for this session.

    Cheers,
    Sudhir
