This has been a big week for the REACH team at SAP and techniData. We have successfully passed the End of Ramp Up with just another 2 weeks to go until unrestricted shipments for SAP REACH Compliance will be achieved. And what a great feeling that is after several successful implementations and live customers across the globe.  These customers can now effectively and sustainably apply REACH regulations by enabling their employees to access REACH data centrally via the SAP Enterprise Portal .  Customers have confirmed that this has helped them achieve much needed transparency, increase efficiency as well as greatly reducing the risk of compliance infringements.

Through the stringent ramp up process we have also been able to train 67 partner consultants from 17 partner companies who are now fully capable of supporting chemical customers with their REACH projects.

Interest has also been growing in our REACH Roundtable, which is open to the public as a forum to discuss and join forces in this area. This is where users, customers and partners can discuss innovation and thought leadership as well as exchanging ideas and learning from each other.  I welcome you to join us here to read, learn and contribute to our growing REACH community.

I wonder, how do you rate the importance of IT to achieve REACH compliance. Do you think that an integrated solution can help to handle the REACH requirements and what do you expect from such a solution? Or is REACH compliance a minor IT issue that can be handled with office tools?

This is good news and for the benefit of our community not familiar with REACH it would be helpful if you supplied some links to Marko Lange’s previous blogs or to some explanation of what REACH means for compliance.  Indirectly it is also a sustainability topic (CSR and Sustainability).  Connecting the dots for us in the BPX community trying to follow why this is news would be helpful.

Nice job Kieran.  This makes things clearer.  It would be interesting to see how REACH could be used beyond its present boundaries as the application/solution might be retrofitted to other industries.
