SAP Business One and Crystal Reports

By now you may already have heard that SAP and Business Objects have come together with a focus on delivering on a shared vision to transform the way the world works by connecting people, information and businesses.

Well, the good news is that from a Small Enterprise perspective we are fully engaged in that vision and to that end we have just released via the Solution Developer Network, a new tool that enables our SAP Business One 2005 and 2007 customers to publish any Crystal Reports .rpt file on to the SAP Business One menu and execute and view that report from within SAP Business One.

In addition you can now launch the Crystal Reports 2008 Designer from the SAP Business One menu and modify existing Crystal Reports and create new Crystal Reports from scratch by linking to the SAP Business One company database.

There is a set of eLearning sessions also available from the SDN landing page where you can download the add-on installation package and a range of sample reports.

On the installation package you can access 2 versions of the add-on.

One is built using Visual Basic 6 and utilises the older Crystal Reports XI Winform viewer and has been provided for those customers and partners who prefer not to utilise the .Net framework and IDE.

The preferred solution is built using C# and uses the very latest Crystal Reports 2008 .Net Winform viewer with all the additional capabilities of that platform.

Both the solutions come with source code and can be extended in any way you would like – our SSPs (Software Solution Partners)can even incorporate the code samples in to their own applications if desired.

I hope you enjoy using the code samples and the add-on. Please feel free to log any messages/ask questions about the add-on via the SAP Business One Forum at  this address –SAP Business One and Crystal Reports – and remember as this is delivered under the SDN license model no formal SAP support is available but we will endeavour to answer your questions via the forum.

  • Very good, the CR-AddOn.

Are there plans, to replace the PLD with CR ?

I mean not as a separate AddOn, but as very seamless SBO-integrated functionality.

    Thank You.

    • Hi,

I realise that I might be being a little dumb posting this but anyway…

I have CR2008 & SAP B1 installed as well as the SAP/Crystal Integration Kit, how do I get SAP to use only the .rpt files to produce ALL paperwork that is printed out? I am wanting to bypass the PLD/ALD from SAP and solely use the templates from Crystal.
