Have you ever rolled a car over?

No, not that way! If you did I hope you came out ok.

I mean – have you ever rolled the odometer over? In the recent past I have done it twice. It’s not that I drive that much, I just buy older cars.

When the odometer rolls over from 999999 to 000000 it’s a moment for celebration.

Today I have staged* a minor celebration because:

1. It’s Friday

2. Any reason is a good enough reason to celebrate the great work that the SCN team do

3. Santosh’s SDN – long time ago got me thinking how far we have come in just a few short years.

So congratulations to the whole team at the SAP Community Network. Know that the site has gone from strength to strength and we (the guys in the trenches) appreciate all the work you do.

But it is not just the work the team do, it is all of us. As a community we are stronger today because of this site and all the wonderful information sharing, collaboration, communication and learning that takes place here.

Is it perfect? No – there are all sorts of things that could be improved. Let’s just think back to see how far we have come and think how far we can go in the next 10000 blog posts and the next 5 years.

So … Three cheers to the SAP Community Network.

*Staged because I contrived to grab the blog numbered 10000. Cheeky I know. I hope you don’t mind! Also keep in mind that even though this is the post numbered 10000 that doesn’t mean there have been 10000 posts. I mention this now because I know some of you are thinking about that. Stop it and enjoy the (slightly contrived) moment.

Nice blog! SCN has grown a lot in the last couple of years…Not only in members but also in architecture…Congratulations on blog 10000…Even when it’s not actually number 10000…Anyone know how many blog we had so far???

SCN Teams rules…I meet almost all of them at TechEd Vegas…At least the ones that are visible…Craig, Gali, Marilyn, Mark, David…

    Greetings,

    Blag.

The team – and the community – appreciate your recognition.  There are a LOT of people on the SAP Community Network team (SDN, BPX, Business Objects / Diamond, TechEd, Tech Tour) “inner circle,” a whole lot more on the extended team (in NW Product Management, the Industry Business Units, Global Support, etc. etc.), and even more in our extended community (customers, partners, thought leaders, SAP Mentors, independent consultants, top contributors [those over 250 points]…) who work hard to make this community as good and strong as it is.  It is very nice, however, to take a moment every once-in-a-while to think how far we have all come together.  There are issues and challenges, and there, are plenty of un-realized opportunities yet to be achieved, but 10,000 is a milestone to celebrate the journey so far.

    Regards,
    Mark Yolton

Thanks god I’m not the only one who cares about so imperceptible congratulation momments! It’s funny and make us feel more impressed by the hard work we do every day – like the abap transport request 1000, the help desk user case 50000, the .net system build 500 ans so on… 🙂

    multiple cheers!

I know Gregor I noticed that this morning I was a little sad that I missed it.
Anyway it looks like we got some A Milestone post rather than another ‘3 cheers for SDN’ blog from me.

Interestingly it only took 2 years to crank out the second 10000. Will 30000 come up with in 12 months from now?

      Cheers,
      Nigel
