Why do I need a Product Availability Matrix(PAM) for Mobile - Always Connected:

The development for Mobile Always-Connected Clients is based on Web Dynpro. Nevertheless there are differences between the standard Web Dynpro features and the features of Mobile for always connected clients ( Mobile Web Dynpro ).Due to the fact that the capabilities differ for each and every device type (Laptop, Handheld or Smartphone).

Use the Product Availability Matrix to speed up the overall evaluation and development process.

Supported Devices / Vendors

There are a number of different device types / vendors. The Product Availabilty Matrix gives you an overview about the official supported devices.

Supported Browsers

An important feature of the always connected scenario is is the device specific rendering. The device specific rendering is dependent on the used device and the installed browser.

You can easily integrate peripherals with the always connected framework. Depending on the manufacturer of the Pocket PC, you need to use specific browsers in order to use this functionality.

The Product Availability Matrix includes a list of supported Device/Browser combinations which enables you to use the full set of functionality.

Supported User Interface Elements

You can use a rich subset of all available Web Dynpro User Interface Elements during your mobile development. Each of these UI Elements have a number of properties (e.g. width ).

The PAM gives you an overview about the supported User Interface elements and the corresponding properties (e.g. button width).

Where can I get the latest PAM ?

You can either access the Service Marketplace http://service.sap.com/PAM or  download it directly from SDN.

Enjoy!
