It may be convenient to have shortcuts for each of the modes of the Web tools installer modes either on the desktop or in the start menu.

This tutorial will show you how to create them.

Tasks Mode
Tasks mode allows the user to run post installation tasks, such as installing the messaging Windows service, and re-creating the default superuser of manager

  1. Locate the shortcut on the desktop for the Web tools Installer.
  2. Right-click on the icon and choose “Copy”
  3. Right-click anywhere else on the desktop and choose “Paste”
  4. Right-click on the icon just created and choose properties.
  5. The properties sheet of the icon appears with the Shortcut tab selected.
  6. Locate the text-box labelled “Target”
  7. At the very end of the line inside of the text-box enter the text -tasks outside of the existing quotes.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Right-click the icon again and choose “Rename”
  10. Enter the text Installer -tasks, then click anywhere to apply the change
  11. Double-click the icon to launch the installer in tasks mode.

Instance Only Mode
Instance only mode allows the user to define an instance record in the instances.xml file used by the installer. This is helpful when upgrading a Netpoint 5.9.7 instance, or for changing the SQL user’s password for a web tools website that is stored in encrypted format in the instances.xml file.

  1. Locate the shortcut on the desktop for the Web tools Installer.
  2. Right-click on the icon and choose “Copy”
  3. Right-click anywhere else on the desktop and choose “Paste”
  4. Right-click on the icon just created and choose properties.
  5. The properties sheet of the icon appears with the Shortcut tab selected.
  6. Locate the text-box labelled “Target”
  7. At the very end of the line inside of the text-box enter the text -i outside of the existing quotes.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Right-click the icon again and choose “Rename”
  10. Enter the text Installer -instanceonly, then click anywhere to apply the change
  11. Double-click the icon to launch the installer in InstanceOnly mode.

ResetUser Mode
ResetUser mode allows the user to assign WebCRM licenses to web tools users, reset their password, and make them active or inactive. Useful for when the web tools website is inaccesible.

  1. Locate the shortcut on the desktop for the Web tools Installer.
  2. Right-click on the icon and choose “Copy”
  3. Right-click anywhere else on the desktop and choose “Paste”
  4. Right-click on the icon just created and choose properties.
  5. The properties sheet of the icon appears with the Shortcut tab selected.
  6. Locate the text-box labelled “Target”
  7. At the very end of the line inside of the text-box enter the text -resetuser outside of the existing quotes.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Right-click the icon again and choose “Rename”
  10. Enter the text Installer -resetuser, then click anywhere to apply the change
  11. Double-click the icon to launch the installer in resetuser mode.
