As part of the solution management office, responsible for community innovation, product definition and design and product management for SCN, I have met most of the people working for SCN. I also, felt in some way, that I am a part of the community. But it is only after Teched that I really started to grasp that being a part of the SDN/BPX communities, is like being part of a HUGE family.
The first realization of how truly great the community is came to me during Community day. This day, which was small and intimate – gave the high contributors a great chance to share their knowledge, in person, with other community members- during short sessions given by the contributors on various subjects. Each session was full of great energy, with people eager to learn from each other. There was also time for Questions and answers and a great speed networking session – where the members had a great chance to influence the direction SCN is headed.
Community day, taught me, how great it is for people to share their professional knowledge. It taught me, that the great communities we have built together – help us overcome boundaries of geography language and culture.
During the rest of Teched, I was part of the SDN knowledge table staff, stationed in the great community clubhouse. There I got a chance to meet many additional community members from all over the world. I used this opportunity to hear what they had to say, what is good on our communities and where are the pain points. I also got to hear different views on all kinds of topics, and see some great applications.
In less than a week, I have definitely advanced professionally by getting introduced to new technologies and processes, learning great new tools, getting feedback from people who use our sites daily and more. But the most valuable thing earned in Munich, are great new friends from all over the world! I had a great time, and I really hope to attend Teched again!
