    Are there any expansions on drill down capabilities with CR 2008?                   

    Answer – Not that I’m aware of.

    Carlos Changes Question To: Does the integrated Xcelsius file connect to the report datasource or will it still only connect to an excel file?

    Answer: Xcelsius connects to the report in the Crystal Report

    Crystal Reports comes with a salesforce.com database driver built in.

    Answer: Yes your Crystal 10 reports will work with CR2008.

    StephenS Asked: What is a data mashup?

    Answer: When you connect a data centric application like Crystal Reports with a web services based application like Google Maps.  In Crystal Reports you can use the Flex integration to mash the Crystal Reports data with web service applications for a more interactive and visual data experience.

    Tom Asked: Did you get the licensing more in line with your competitors?

    Answer: I can’t speak to our competitors licensing but I believe we have made some significant changes to our licensing to make it easier for our customers with things like a single version of Crystal Reports and better runtime distribution licensing.

    Naved Altaf Asked: If we are passing a parameter to dataset for the report , how can we pass the same parameter to Flash presentation?

    Answer: There is an Flash Data Expert that allows you to pass values in the Crystal Report to the Flash object

    danette gray Asked: Do we have to upgrade to XI from 8.5 before upgrading to 2008? Will 8.5 reports work in 2008? and is it backwards compatible to 8.5 and/or XI?

    Answer: You don’t have to upgrade to XI first to use Crystal Reports 2008.  We are backwards compatible to Crystal Reports 9 but not Crystal Reports 8.5 because of a report format change to support Unicode.

    The reports will work in Business Objects XI, but the new features will not be enabled.

    Answer: Yes

    Answered: Yes you can

    Sean Bloch Asked: If, for example, I am using a map-mashup interactively from a web browser, can I configure a report to display detail tables when printing to paper? This would be similar to HTML & CSS seperating screen and print content. Would this be accomplished with XSLT or as a built in feature?

    Answered: Not sure, I’ll have to look into it.

    Artur Siewierski Asked: Are there any improvements made to the cross-tab?

    Answered: Huge improvements to cross-tabs. I will talk about this in detail in my next webinar.

    todd Asked: In Crystal Reports 2008 are you able to connect Excelsius to ODBC connected data, such as SQL data? It seems Excelsius was always limited to Excel before.

    Answered: With Crytal Reports 2008 you can connect any Crystal datasource to Xcelsius

    A Roberts Changes Question To: What pivot table functionality is there with CR 2008?

    We have Cross Tabs which are essentially almost the same thing.

    Jason Rushing Asked: What if I do not have xcelsius? Do I still have access to the improved charts and graphs?

    Answered: No, but we will be providing some Xcelsius/Crystal Reports 2008 bundles in the future to make it easy for you to get both.

    Artur Siewierski Changes Question To: Managed .NET version of CR – is it coming?

    Answered:Not in this version

    Jason Rushing Asked: What if I do not have xcelsius? Do I still have access to the improved charts and graphs?

    Answered: There have been some improvements to standard charting. You now have a number of options ontop of the built in charts to include graphics that you build leveraging flex builder. There will be some special upgrade offer to provide customers that will give a great upgrade price for people that have crystal reports to upgrade to crystal reports 2008 plus Xcelsius.

    Answered: There is an option to pass report data to the Flash object.

    Artur Siewierski Changes Question To: By calculated rows and columns in cross-tab – do you mean print time formulas or NOT?

    Answer: I believe this might be the same thing. I cover this in more detail in the next session.

    stephen Asked: After dynamically changing the report layout (grid, charts, etc.) as shown in the demo, can the user have printed out exactly what is shown on the screen?

    Answered: The only thing you can’t currently print is the sort controls and the Flash objects.

    Fred Helm Asked: Can or will BusinessObjects Enterprise be able to schedule a report with an embedded XSLT to XML format?

    Answered: Yes, in the next version of BusinessObjects Enterprise you will be able to schedule reports with embedded XSLT.

    Sabrina Ho Asked: what does Crystal Server do ? scheduling + etc ?

    Answer: Yes, Crystal Reports Server handles things like scheduling, security, and web deployment.

    Karthik S Asked: Are there any royalties for .NET applications distributed for commercial use?     Answered: Crystal Reports 2008 will install side by side with older versions of Crystal Reports and is backwards compatible with older versions until Crystal Reports 2008.

    StephenS Asked: Do you have any what-if tutorials or documentation for CR 2008? If so, where do i find that information?

    Answered: This is really an Xcelsius issue. I will be doing a webinar on this subject in the end of November

    Michael Felz Asked: We were planning to upgrade from v10 to v11… is the upgrade from v10 to v2008 more difficult ?

    Answered: It shouldn’t be more difficult.

    mwee Asked: can you talk about language support? specifically, can reports be developed in english and also be easily generated in spanish, french, etc.?

    Answered: I’ll try to cover this is an specific webinar.
