Once a SSP (Software Solution Provider) considers to engage with SAP through integration certification, a very important factor is how to get access to SAP systems in order to test the integration. The SAP Integration and Certification Center (ICC) offers access to shared SAP ERP systems from 4.0 all the way to very current SAP ECC 6.0 for this purpose. In addition the ICC hosts SAP CRM, SAP SRM and various SAP NetWeaver components such as BI, XI and EP. this service is called SAP Remote Access Connectivity Service (SAP RAC Service).

Recently, I had a special request from a SSP I was helping to get certified.  They not only required a SAP ERP system, but they wanted to have a particular IDES system installed for testing. It’s great that the ICC has prepared an ‘exclusive-use RAC service’ a year ago. It requires that our IT build those special request systems.

The good thing is since it’s exclusive-use you can configure it to your own specific need and also if you hold a developer license you can create your own code on the system which regular RAC system cannot.
