It had been years since my last SAP TechEd (I think it was 2000 or so at the MGM in Las Vegas with the X-Files “The Truth is in Here” theme…good times…good times). Since that TechEd, I had spent any extra time going to other conferences (portal, HR, project mgmt, etc) or training classes each year. However, this year would be MUCH different! Thanks to SDN (and more so, Mark Finnern), I had the opportunity to make another TechEd trip in Las Vegas, and I had forgotten just how fun and informative they are! I will not recount TechEd in detail as I believe that got covered very well in the many blogs that sprang up during and immediately after the event. However, I will share a few photos and hopefully take you on a kind of visual tour of what the week held…mostly outside of the normal sessions…I mean, do you really need photos of a guy in front of a room with a PowerPoint shown on a big screen behind them to get how the actual sessions went ? (haha) This TechEd reminded me that I was long overdue, and I will not miss another one! I hope you enjoy the photos, but a few things to mention:

  1. Sorry for the small size of the pictures. This was due to the size limitations of SDN’s uploader, and the fact that I did not want to host them elsewhere.
  2. Sorry if you think this is too many pictures. These are actually wittled down from about 250 or so that I took over the course of the week!
  3. For those actually *in* the photos, I will gladly send you the original (full res) pics….for non-commercial use, of course…that means you can’t reuse yours in GQ, Mark! (haha)

So with all of that out of the way…please enjoy the tour!

Thanks again soooo much to Mark Finnern for making sure I got there this year as well as making my time there a blast! (I still owe you a new skateboard, Mark! haha) Thanks to SAP for putting on a great conference and providing top notch entertainment, food and fun. It was great seeing old friends and making new ones, as well as getting some good ol’ geek time in and seeing all the new things SAP has lined up. I will be sure to be there next year! See you there!!!

Yeh…it was great to meet you and the guys too (Thomas, Rich, Dan, and Patrick). I had a little time with you all at the Boom Chicago table we shared, a little while milling about in the Clubhouse, and then a little after the concert (which is a bit of a blur for some reason….haha), but I wish I would got to hang out some more with you guys. There’s always next year, right? haha Till then!

Thanks for reinforcing the now common belief that some of the most exciting things at TechEd are those that happen in the informal activities of the event.  Your pictures are sooo community.  That gives many of us a great big pleasure.  (I recall something about pleasure connected to Boom Chicago, no?)
Please share your fabulous pics (if you haven’t already done so) on our Group Flickr site: SAP TechEd (use the tag sapteched)
There you will find tons of stuff from Munich as well.

It was soooo great to finally meet you there, Marilyn ! I was amazed you to sit back and watch you in action. You were so great about making your way all around the Clubhouse, introducing your self, running table sessions, making sure everyone felt welcome, etc. I honestly don’t know where you find the time or energy. You were like watching a pinball bouncing around inside a pinball machine! haha I hope a vacation is in store for you soon.

As for sharing ALL of my TechEd photos on Flickr….I am not so sure I can do that….legal reasons and all, you understand….evidence, blackmail, extortion….you get the idea. *grin*

p.s. Althought I am putting together a little video of the MANY attempts by Mark to juggle glowstick rings AFTER the concert….if you can imagine that. =) Glad my camera has a nice video feature….bet Mark won’t be so glad though! haha

Thanks for sharing your photos on SDN!  They’re awesome.  You really captured the event, your experience and the fun, learning, and collaboration that TechEd is trying to achieve and contribute to our great community.  Thanks again Chris and I hope we get to see you again next year!
