Business Objects and Adobe Systems announced an exciting new partnership this week. In the press release Business Objects and Adobe have agreed to jointly develop software together that will increase the "productivity of information workers."

The earliest of these technology partnerships will take advantage of Xcelsius and Adobe Flex Builder 2. The Diamond community team in partnership with the Xcelsius product team recently launched a contest  which allows users to take a look at the a Beta of the new Xcelsius SDK for Adobe Flex Builder 2.  The technology partnership allows Flex developers to add custom Flex controls to Xclesius as new widgets.  To learn more click here.

Even more exciting to people who are familiar with Adobe Flex Builder 2 will be future integration with Xcelsius and Adobe® LiveCycle® Data Services ES.  Live Cycle Data Services provides "provides data remoting, messaging, and data management capabilities to" Flex developers. I haven't personally had a chance to play Live Cycle Data Services yet but I have been playing with Adobe Flex Builder and I have been very impressed so far. The integration will allow Xcelsius applications to begin to take advantage of the real-time streaming data, which should be a lethal combination.

Another very interesting improvement will be the ability for the next Xcelsius version to be able to allow it to export applications to Adobe® AIR!" applications. Adobe AIR allows Flex developers to create rich desktop applications. I have still yet to see this feature but I'm supper excited. Any one who is familiar with Xcelsius understands its power to visualize data and provide dynamic what if scenario analysis; it should be very interesting to see how users take to the ability to export that to a rich desktop application.
