Today we are launching a new top level navigation entry, called “Articles.” This area surfaces all of the documents from our SDN & BPX Article Library. You’ll find articles, SAP how-to guides (yes, these are the official SAP guides written by members of the RIG, or Regional Implementation Group), and presentations sorted by various criteria including date, format, skill level and source.

While the content in our Article Library has always been available on the site through the search function and featured on our area pages, we are now surfacing its contents and making it more prominent since it contains such valuable information. Many of you have been asking for something like this where you can see the most recent articles uploaded to the site or see only the articles written by SAP employees.

All of the content on these pages is dynamically generated so it’s constantly being updated. Basically every time we upload a new article or how-to guide it will automatically appear on these pages. So we encourage you to check back often.

The ‘Articles’ pages are essentially queries on the metadata in our content repository (we’re using the content management system that’s part of SAP NetWeaver Portal ). Our developers have created a webpage template we call “Dynamic Catalog” within Web Page Composer.  In this Dynamic Catalog template you enter the smart query criteria, and the output page will display a list of all documents with the matching metadata.  This allows our content managers to easily create pages that display smart query results. The user interface is pretty straightforward and you don’t have to know any programming language to create these pages.

You may also have noticed that on many of our homepages we recently included a section on the right side called “Articles.” This is also driven by the Dynamic Catalog functionality and is yet another way in which we’re highlighting our Article Library content.

So check out the new Article Library and SCN Support!
