Our BPX and community team is in full force preparation for TechEd. I am very excited about this TechEd. After a full year of creating awareness and ramping our BPX community up to over 200,000 members, I get to meet all of our top contributors, aspiring BPX members, and get to see the BPX community "live" in action at the community day and clubhouse. I am looking forward to meeting you all. In preparations for TechEd there has been tons of activities to make your experience one of the best ever. I sometimes talk about it as BP extralicious ....( Yes I admit, I just went to see a show by Beyonce...and copied the licious part )

So what is coming for BPXers at TechEd.

We will we have community day on October first with:

BPX Geek/Suit panel - hosted by Minda Zetlin and Bill Pfleging (authors of the book the geek suit gap)  This will be a fun panel, where we talk about the interesting dynamics between geeks and suits that happen.

BPX sessions -10 BPX/SDN oriented suggestions to date  (unconferencing style)

BPX top contributor awards  where we will honor our top contributors of the last year.

Speed Networking We are not separating the communities for this activity although we can have tables with topics that map to BPX interests: OCM, Business Modeling, Enterprise Architecture

During three days of TechEd

BPX Clubhouse:  We will have activities at the BPX table, mini-theater (Geek/Suit Quiz),  a special community driven mural, charactures, and we will do video interviews with those who want to be interviewed and tell about their experience (good or bad)

Our BPX knowledge table at the Clubhouse: So far we have  around 25+ sessions by external contributors. We will really try to inspire everyone to network and to create enthusiasm and active future contribution. We also have a luggage spotter giveaway for people coming to the BPX table. Last but not least if something results from the activity at the table you will get those extra points for content contribution.

There will be 100+ BPX sessions: There will be a special guide to BPXers inside the bag you will get when you register. One of the sessions will held by me together with Capgemini's RAIN head in the USA: Puneet Suppal

How To Transform from an IT, Application, or Business Consultant to a Business Process Expert

During this session, we will answer these questions:

  • Who is a Business Process Expert?
  • What is the potential role of Business Process Experts in an organization?
  • Why are we building a community around this set of roles?
  • What are the advantages of becoming a Business Process Expert?

SAP Community Network, together with Capgemini, will address some of the practical aspects of becoming a Business Process Expert, such as examining the evolution needed to go from business analyst, application consultant or technical expert to a Business Process Expert and then to an enterprise or business architect. We will address the importance of this evolution in context of furthering enterprise service-oriented architecture and leveraging enterprise architecture frameworks. The session focuses on some common sense steps to take to evolve your skill sets and help you become a more effective member of the Business Process Expert (BPX) Community. Last, but not least we will share some key milestones coming up regarding the future potential of the BPX Community for you and your career.

Last but not least we are launching a bunch of new content areas on the site.

We just released a new collaborative visio tool in the wiki, to let BPXers globally jointly model business processes. Have a look at Richard Hirsch his blog: The specified item was not found.

On top of that we are planning to launch and relaunch 5 new areas on the community: Organizational Change Management (OCM):Corporate Performance Management (CPM): Wholesale Distribution: new Industry area Getting Started: area revamp (some shared with SDN) Business Process Lifecycle: area revamp

And then by TechEd Bangalore we are launching 2 more industry areas for Automotive and Aerospace & Defense.

Also be on the lookout sometime during TechEd for a special edition BPX newsletter insert. And to top it of, our community is grown so large that we are moving from a quarterly issue of the BPX newsletter to a monthly newsletter.

I am looking forward to see everyone at TechEd !

Marco
