ABAP Report WizardABAP Report Wizard

A SDN project that has been under the radar for a while presents during the SDN day its creation: The ABAP Report Wizard.

  • Want to know how to reduce development and maintenance costs while leveraging your internal development team at the same time?

  • Want to know how you can create standardized, state-of-the art reports in 5 minutes?

During the SDN day in Vegas last year (2006), I presented a concept/tool to automate creation of ABAP reports. It was in very early stages, but it was a very good experience for me and I had the opportunity to meet  Rich Heilman . He attended to the session and since then we’ve kept in contact.

Another developer who I have worked with in the past has also shown interest in the initiative. His name is Alexandre Giguère. So the three of us formed a team.

Alex, Rich and I have improved the initial concept to a much more powerful tool.

We’ll be presenting a tool that can be used “right out of the box”. Also, we expect to spark the discussion of what could be added to it.

I always considered the SDN day (or Community Day if you prefer) the best event of the whole conference. It is an opportunity to meet very enthusiastic peers in a very informal way.

Join us at the SDN Day in Las Vegas.

See you there!

Yes Alvaro, I think we were able to come up with a nice piece of software. I think you’ll like it.

We are looking forward to share it with the community.

See you at the community day!

And by the way, we submitted our project to the Demojam. As big ABAP fans we thought it would be a great opportunity to represent ABAP there…
But I don’t know what happened, SAP never answer our proposal.

Anyway, community day is the most important event of the week (at least for me)  ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hi Leonardo,
If I remember correctly there were a couple of people wanting more ABAP Reporting being covered at TechEd and you created a session at the SDN Day and did a repeat coding at the Clubhouse one of the days later. That is really the spirit of the SDN Day (now Community Day). Looking forward to have you there again, Mark.

      Hi Mark,
      Good to hear from you.
Yes, I think this is one of the greatest opportunities in the community, to share experiences and interact with peers.
I will check my conference schedule. Since I plan to spend some time at the Clubhouse, as I did last year, I could do a clubhouse session again. Lets see.
      See you at Community day!
