Hi Everyone,
I’m very excited to announce that the Goo Goo Dolls will be performing at the TechEd Las Vegas Thursday night event!  We are thrilled to be offering this major concert for our intimate little 6,000-person event in Las Vegas!
If you know the Goo Goo Dolls, you’re already excited!
If you don’t, they’ve had chart-topping songs like “Name“, “Iris“, “Slide“, and “Sympathy“.  Following Hurricane Katrina, CNN adopted the Goo Goo Dolls “Better Days” as their anthem for breaking stories.  With the release of their 2006 album “Let Love In”, the Goo Goo Dolls hit a record 12 Top 10 hits in Adult Top 40 history, beating Matchbox Twenty and Sheryl Crow.
This year they recorded a new song for the Transformers movie, “Before It’s Too Late” that’s on the soundtrack.

(Note from our legal folks: The Goo Goo Dolls concert is available to registered SAP TechEd Las Vegas attendees only.  You’ll need your SAP TechEd attendee badge to be admitted.)
Here is an awesome video giving a great overview of some of the recent Goo Goo Dolls hits and their new album.  See it in the embedded video below, or click through and watch it in “Full Screen” mode.  Check it out:

I know the Goo Goo Dolls, and I'm not excited at all. They're quite boring, don't you think? How about the Dresden Dolls instead?

... Brechtian Punk Cabaret as they themselves call what they are doing sounds really interesting. I have to check them out next time they are in the Bay Area.

Your taste is eclectic, not sure whether the majority would enjoy Punk Cabaret of the Brechtian kind, which is unfortunate.

Check out Jason Webbely or Rube Weddell you may like them, especially if they perform life, Mark.

I saw these guys this summer and their live concert rocked! My wife dragged me there and I was expecting top 40 radio play. What a surprise! Rzeznik just has fun up on stage and Takac has a metal edge that blew me away - who knew? These guys really enjoy putting on a show. It's not flashy, just fun. You probably couldn't book a better act right now to play to a large and diverse and technical audience...

well the Dresden Dolls (even though their website is quite promising) do not appear to be a real option to me too.

SAP has to draw a line between cost, strategic business and major taste,

which most of the times ends up (speaking for EMEA)in a band that is pretty mainstream, and performs covers of other bands most of the time

(I personally look back to the "official evening event" in the netherlands with a little disappointement - at least when it comes to music.)

The band in Vienna has been a lot better, but everything that deals with art or music depends on personal taste, a topic about which (cannot) really be argued about.

I surely understand, that you cannot hire bands that are associated to a niche in terms of musical taste, but maybe you can take the musical spirit of the hosting country a little more into account, I´d have had no problem with a band performing Dutch, or Austrian songs as well.

But in the end the live act at the TechEd doesn´t really matter, the main thing is about meeting people and getting involved into the spirit.

      cu at the TechEd,

      Juergen.

If you don't want your tickets to see the Goo Goo Dolls, I would be happy to take them.  They are an excellent band, and if you take time to listen to their words, and listen to the music,  you may just appreciate them as well.

Not everyone likes every musician, to each his own.  But if you don't like them, there's no reason to be negative against them.  They are very generous to their fans, and in this day and age, quite frankly, is non-existant.

So, if you please, just give them a listen, show them the respect they deserve, and mainly, just ENJOY YOURSELF, your in VEGAS!
