Scott Campbell, Vice President of Co-Innovation Labs Network, at SAP Labs U.S. welcomed attendees at the beginning of the SAP TechTour Palo Alto on August 9, 2007. This unique location was a great setting for the TechTour, which similar to the Co-Innovation Lab, promotes the building a vibrant ecosystem, in support of an open platform fostering communities of customers, partners and individuals to collaborate to solve industry-specific business issues. The theme of this year's SAP Technology Tour is "Empowering an Ecosystem of Innovation".
Richard Probst, VP of Enterprise Services Community and VP of Market Development, was instrumental in opening the doors to the Co-Innovation Lab and allowing the SAP Tech Tour to take place. Through careful organization with the COIL management team, the room was transformed into a 150 seat auditorium to serve as a stage for the full day's agenda.
Wulf Vogler, Manager of the Co-Innovation Lab, concluded the Palo Alto TechTour by offering attendees a tour of the COIL during the evening reception. Wulf highlighted some of the upcoming projects, including those led by the lab's sponsors, business application vendors like Questra and Wonderware, and those of Citrix Systems and F5 who are among the first infrastructure members committing to initiate projects in the SAP Co-Innovation Lab. In addition, he showed how the lab is focused on supporting projects that allow partners to combine their own enterprise services with SAP's to create deep composite applications.
The SAP Co-Innovation Lab will offer a hands-on environment for SAP, independent software vendors (ISVs), system integrators (SIs) and technology partners to work together with customers around current and future technologies, and to showcase how customers can increase competitive advantage and improve efficiencies by transforming their business networks with enterprise service-oriented architecture (enterprise SOA). Founding sponsors of the SAP Co-Innovation Lab include HP, Intel, Network Appliance and Cisco.
Collaborative efforts for the SAP TechTour Palo Alto extended beyond the TechTour and COIL Management, showcasing a joint venture supported by the SDN, BPX and ASUG communities and Wipro, the SAP Technology Tour 2007 Global Platinum Sponsor.
