Hello mobile SDN community,

SAP NetWeaver Product Management and Regional Implementation Group are hosting educational sessions on the successor of mobile Infrastructure: SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1. In these sessions we will explain the new architecture and demonstrate the new tools.

Session Schedule

Each session is held at 4:00 pm CET/10:00 am EDT/7:00 am PST. Updates might occur, therefore please check this blog for schedule changes. Session duration is 60 minutes, containing a presentation/demo and approx. 10 minutes time for questions.

20-Dec-07: Device Management. In this session you will learn how devices are setup and managed. You will also see several demos during the course of the session.

Past Sessions (eLearnings are now available): 

16-Aug-07: Architecture Overview and Runtime (Link to eLearning). This session is suitable for mobile beginners as well as for experienced Mobile Infrastructure experts who want to get an overview on the new architecture. It decribes how data is staged, retrieved, distributed and how the mobile client interacts with the server. In this session you will also see several demos with a simple mobile application in action.

06-Sep-07: New Development Cycle and Tools (Link to eLearning). This session is suitable for mobile beginners as well as for experienced Mobile Infrastructure experts. It explains the development process at a high-level. It describes how data objects are designed, BAPIs are connected and data distribution is modeled. This session will also demonstrate the new design time tools for model-driven frontend design.

27-Sep-07: SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1 Overview. A high level view on the NetWeaver Mobile platform, providing key capabilities and benefits that customers & partners can gain for any enterprise mobility requirements. Targeted to people in sales, pre-sales & solution architects to position SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1 as a multi channel access platform for any industry vertical.


Can I ask questions during the session? To achieve better audio quality for the audience, participant phone lines are muted during presentation and demo. During this time you can type in questions in the chat function of WebEx. In the later Q+A slot, questions from the chat are answered first, before the phone lines are opened for questions.

How to I dial-in and what conferencing tool is used? We are using WebEx for transmission of slides, etc. Please note that a small installation need to be performed at your PC to participate in this session. For the audio a conference call dial-in number is used. The details can be found below.

I cannot participate live – will there be a recording of the sessions? Yes. We will provide eLearnings containing the session content.

Are there already trainings offered for SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1? We currently offer RKT workshops. For more details please visit the RKT Workshop page (SAP Service Marketplace Logon, e.g. S-User, required).

    I was waiting since a long time to get information on Mobile 7.1 and the announcement of these sessions are truly invigorating. I am too keen on attending them. I have a few queries in this regard.

    I am from India and do not know which number to dial-in as it is not in the list of the countries mentioned in the blog. I am also unaware as to which could be the neighbouring country.

    I would also want to know whether this requires a registration to be done and is there any registration fees.

    I request someone from sdn to please answer these queries of mine.

      Hello Saurabh,
      session participation is for free. You only have to pay the phone call for dialing in. You might have better rates to UK – this depends on your provider.

    I just wanted to confirm the time of the webinars as 12pm EDT is 6pm CET not 4pm and I didn’t want to dial in at the wrong time and miss the sessions.

    Its great to see that SAP is finally doing something again in Mobile, but can you please clarify for me if this new release supports:
    – Blackberry in disconnected mode?
    – Symbian devices in disconnected mode?
    – WIndows Mobile devices in disconnected mode?
    – Windows Smartphone devices in disconnected mode?

    Or does this version once again really only work on laptops?

      Hello Guru,
      SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1 is currently focusing on the disconnected mode of Windows Mobile devices (should be smartphones as well..) and laptops.

    I don’t see the promised download button; when will the recorded session be available?  (By the way, the  times are still wrong, in that they mix Standard and Daylight timezones.)

      Hi, I promised to provide the recording of the session soon. Unfortunately the audio quality of the recording is really bad. I am currently in the process of creating a eLearning. I plan to publish it Beginning of September.

    When i give the meeting no in the webex,it gives me a message “The meeting starts at 4:00 pm, Europe Standard Time (GMT +01:00, Berlin), on December 5, 2007”.Is there any change in the dates of the session.

    Wolfgang – Do you know when this product is coming out of Ramp up and how the results are looking like. Also, do you have information on any upcoming training in the USA.

      Hello Narendra, Rampup is currently planned to end end of March 2008. For the next trainings I just posted a thread in the mobile forum. If you are interested you can sign-up!
