In my earlier Which type of SDN Ubergeek/BPX suit are you?, I wondered which type of SDN Ubergeek/BPX suit you were. I was rather curious about how the S(D)N community, which I would say is a more technically oriented community, would fare and whether we would see a distinct difference between suits and geeks.
When the poll was first launched it was a neck-and-neck race between the Lacklustre Veteran and the Productivity Enhancer, but the latter gradually took the undisputed lead. Now, a month later, the poll is closed. Despite the fact that one couldn’t earn any points with it, 192 people voted. Some grumpy guys would say that that’s not a lot if you compare it with the possible 800K members, but I’m not complaining though.

What are my unscientific conclusions? Well there were indeed some surprises.
- I didn’t expect that many Lacklustre Veterans aka frequent users of the internet and less avid about cell phones. They are not thrilled with ICT-enabled connectivity. I’m one of them btw. I expected the Connectors to score much higher, certainly as I look around at fairs.
- Together with the Connectors, I expected the Omnivores to have the most information gadgets and services, which they use voraciously to participate in cyberspace, to express themselves online and do a range of Web 2.0 activities such as blogging or managing their own Web pages. So you aren’t that hype sensitive.
The most remarkable fact is that the majority identify themselves as being Productivity Enhancers. Apparently these have strongly positive views about how technology lets them keep up with others, do their job, and learn new things. Isn’t that what SDN/PBX is all about? Yes, you confirm that this community is on the right track. And it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference whether you are a suit or a geek, and our beloved site is the perfect glue to fill the gap (if any) between the two worlds.
